Astral strengthens its metal cladding paint offering

A product designed for the renovation of pre-painted cladding

The market pre-lacquered metal cladding imposes specific technical constraints. Companies working on these surfaces must deal with substrates that are sometimes difficult to cover, while guaranteeing durable outdoor performance and a consistent finish quality.

In this context, Astral is expanding its offering with BARDORENOV+A water-based satin paint designed for the renovation and decoration of pre-painted vertical metal cladding. The product is advertised as compatible with the main coatings on the market, including polyester, acrylic, PVDF, polyurethane and plastisol finishes, as well as with certain non-ferrous metals such as galvanized steel, zinc or aluminum.

For applicators, the product's versatility is also a major advantage. It offers good coverage, can be applied with a pneumatic or airless spray gun, and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Its coverage is advertised as between 6 and 8 m² per liter per coat.

A finish adapted to the requirements of construction sites

The satin finish of BARDORENOV+ displays a gloss between 25 and 30 GU at 60°, according to the NF EN ISO 2813 standard. This characteristic aims to ensure a homogeneous reproduction of the final appearance on renovated surfaces.

The product also benefits from the ranking IAQ A+, an element that may be of interest to project owners, operators and companies involved in buildings where requirements related to indoor air quality are taken into account.

A technical evolution for REXOBOIS H₂O lacquer

Astral also announces the reformulation of its REXOBOIS H₂O lacquer, available since April 2026. The stated objective is not to change the positioning of the product but to improve several criteria regularly observed on wood finishing sites.

According to data provided by the manufacturer, the new formulation notably improves water resistance, reduces glossy streaks, enhances tack after 24 hours, and promotes better film tension. Existing characteristics, such as microporosity, UV resistance, filling power, and suitability for printing and finishing, are retained.

For painting contractors and finishing companies, these developments directly affect the quality of appearance and the durability of works exposed to external conditions.

Opaque varnishes with significantly reduced VOCs

Range OPAQUE CETABOIS H₂O It too is undergoing reformulation. One of the most significant changes concerns the reduction of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

The stated values ​​have been reduced from 13 g/L to 0,3 g/L for Base V and from 15,1 g/L to 0,3 g/L for White Base P. This change may make it easier to use the product in contexts where environmental requirements are becoming stricter.

The formulation retains the existing technical characteristics, including the acrylic-alkyd hybrid binder, opacity, adhesion, film flexibility, and microporosity. UV resistance is also enhanced for White Base P.

A simplified application for professionals

Beyond technical performance, Astral has also revised the viscosity of its opaque stains to offer a ready-to-use product that requires no prior dilution. This improvement aims to simplify on-site preparation while maintaining a satin finish that meets the expectations of the professional market.

The three product families affected by this portfolio update also feature new packaging designs and a harmonized graphic identity across the AkzoNobel Group. For both distributors and end-user companies, this redesign aims to facilitate product identification within the professional ranges.
