1ST PRIZE: The Grande Halle du Wip in Colombelles (14)
Les Sens du Bois Company (50)
Nicolas TAVARES and Franck JEUFFRAULT: Managers of the company Les Sens du Bois (50)
The renovation of La Grande Halle du Wip in Colombelles, an industrial heritage building, primarily incorporates concrete and wood, with 1 m600 of parquet flooring and six 2-step staircases sanded and varnished by the company Les Sens du Bois. Partners with Plastor for over 6 years, Nicolas TAVARES and Franck JEUFFRAULT, managers of the company specializing in the renovation and varnishing of parquet floors and staircases, used Plastor products to complete the finishing touches for this project.
« We arrived on this project thanks to the recommendation of the Gouelle carpentry company in Sartilly (50) who won the tender and carried out the installation of the floors. Our company carried out the sanding and varnishing, therefore all the finishing on traditional Douglas parquet floors as well as on plywood panels with a layer of solid white pine. We also had to varnish the rails of the staircase railings to protect them.
The renovation of this industrial building required compliance with environmental quality standards, hence the importance of choosing low-emissivity products. With this same concern, it was decided that the posts and undersides of the exposed corridors would remain raw.
We had to meet deadlines with the usual complexity, by organizing our work areas as best as possible so that all the other craftsmen and trades could move forward quickly. To do this, we mobilized our entire team, namely 5 people. Sometimes my father and one of his colleagues joined us, we were then 7. We managed to achieve the finishes in two weeks of work in all.
As it was new parquet, the material was quite pleasant to work with. Thanks to the Plastor products, the quality of which we have appreciated for 12 years now, we have easily been able to assess working time in the most precise way possible.
To meet the requirements of very limited VOC emissions, we chose to use Aquanat oil, which has very low solvent emissions with only 25 g of VOC/L. To harden the layer of these rather thin products, we opted for DUOPUR-T3 matt, compatible with Aquanat oil, which had been validated by Plastor's technical department. The monitoring and relationship we maintain with the Plastor teams are a major factor in our success. »

2ND PRIZE: The town hall of Plourin-lès-Morlaix (51)
Corre Ponçage SAS Company (29)
Michel CORRE Company Manager
Founded in 1957, Corre Ponçage is a family business, specialized from father to son, based in Brest. With 63 years of experience, it installs and maintains parquet floors.
« We work primarily with individuals. It's quite rare for us to work for local authorities. In the case of the Plourin-lès-Morlaix town hall, we were awarded the project by the municipality, which was familiar with the quality of our work. This town hall-media library project was the subject of an architectural competition that Philippe Madec brilliantly won in 1994. Our work primarily concerned the town council chamber.
The project involved approximately 200 m² of oak flooring. It involved the renovation of an existing floor that had already been maintained several years earlier. As the room served a variety of functions, the flooring had suffered damage. It was scratched by tables, damaged by foot traffic, and had suffered some moisture problems due to condensation near the bay windows.
We carried out the sanding and three-coat varnishing. We were alone on the site, and the renovation lasted a week. We first used a universal hard base coat then 2 coats of DUOPUR-T3. On the advice of the Plastor technical department, and to obtain a very deep matte finish, we applied a first satin coat then a second matte coat.
We've been working with Plastor for as long as we can remember. We're completely satisfied with their products and the relationships we have with their sales team. My children are taking over the business, and they're also delighted. »
3RD PRIZE: Private house in Béarn (64)
Esteves Company (64)
Roger ESTEVES Company Manager
Roger Esteves began working in his father's business in 2012 before taking over on his own. He installs parquet floors, sanding, and varnishing, as well as metalwork, joinery, cupboards, and shutters, most often for private individuals. Plastor products were used to renovate the parquet flooring in this traditional Béarn house.
« One of my suppliers recommended me to the owner of the house, who was undertaking a general renovation. I had to renovate 100 m2 of pine flooring as well as a small section of oak, covering an entire floor and a staircase.
The first time I saw the parquet floor, it was in pretty good condition, but when I came back to work, it had been damaged and soiled by the changes made by the plasterers to the partitions. Since nothing had been protected, there was a lot of plaster to remove. I had to deal with the plumbers during the construction. My father came to help out, and we repaired the damage caused by the plasterers. The construction site
took us a good week continuously.
The client wanted a satin finish so we first repaired and sanded the parquet then We applied a universal hard primer PRIM'SO and 2 coats of satin DUOPUR-T3 which gives a beautiful waxed appearance.
I'm familiar with Plastor products because I've always worked with the brand, just as my father did for decades. We're delighted with their products and their advice. »
