After a robbery, a Champagne jewelry store installs high-security doors from Picard Serrures

Until this traumatic episode for the staff, and beyond the €500.000 loot taken by the criminals, the jewelry store was equipped with a fairly solid, but uncertified, steel door. On the recommendation of her remote monitoring center, the jewelry store manager then contacted the well-known Antivol company.

An expert for over 40 years in building security (locks, armoured doors), automatic door automation and access control (intercom, alarm, video), it has ten employees.

Having joined the Picard Serrures Approved Installers network more than 15 years ago for the high level of security of their products and their support at all times, the company operates throughout the Champagne region.

Initially, the jewelry store owner wanted to opt for a bulletproof solution. However, given the larger budget, her insurance company asked her to opt for a lower level of security: the A2P CR4 classification. This guarantees that the lock integrated into an armored door unit offers resistance for at least 10 minutes to attacks using heavy-duty methods such as power tools (drills, jigsaws, etc.). Antivol therefore advised her to install the RHEA Class A2P CR4 glass security door from Picard Serrures in addition to the existing steel one.

Custom-made from 60 mm thick steel profiles and 2800 mm high, it consists of a 1200 mm wide opening, a fixed frame with an 800 mm return and transoms to act as a security airlock. Equipped with double laminated security glazing, anti-vandalism and burglar-resistant, it has a motorized locking system with 4 locking points. In addition, there are 4 Maroc hinges mounted on ball stops, 3 anti-theft pins and a welded steel threshold. All these elements now guarantee the jewelry store infallible protection against any attempted intrusion!

In addition, a Technica A2P BP1 door was also installed to secure the staff area. Measuring 2050 mm high and 900 mm wide, it has a frame and opening made of 20/10th steel sheet with a thickness of 56 mm, hinges mounted on ball bearings incorporating 3 anti-lift pins as well as 4 horizontal omega reinforcements. Equipped with a pull handle on the jewelry side and a mechanical lock with 4 locking points, only the sales assistants can open it to take refuge in the room and remain there safely if necessary.

In white finish, the whole thing was implemented in a day and a half by four people from the Anti-Theft team for the RHEA door in order to correctly position the glazing weighing 285 kg and two people for the Technica.

For a total budget of €36.000 including installation, the result exceeded the expectations of the jewelry store owner who "did not expect such a quick, efficient and beautiful creation for both the glass door, which remains decorative, and the technical door," confides Romain Michaëli, Business Manager – Locksmith Manager at the company Antivol.
