The ECO Artisan®, to meet tomorrow's market
A solution to the challenges of the Grenelle Environment Forum
In France, construction is the most energy-intensive sector, accounting for 46% of final energy consumption, or 123 million tonnes of CO2 per year (source: CAPEB). The objective of the Grenelle Environment Forum is to reduce energy consumption in homes by half on average by 2020, and by four by 2050. To address the Grenelle's requirements, CAPEB created the ECO Artisan® brand.
A brand that guarantees quality and energy expertise for individuals
The growing awareness among individuals regarding comprehensive home renovations has led to a strong demand for quality support from professionals. Tradespeople, through their privileged position as advisors to individuals, are the main influencers of the "green revolution." The ECO Artisan® brand, initiated by CAPEB and issued by QUALIBAT, aims to differentiate and promote tradespeople capable of meeting the energy renovation challenges set out in the Grenelle Environment Forum. Tradespeople thus offer their clients a thermal assessment of their homes, advise them on consistent techniques to improve their homes' energy efficiency, and finally recommend appropriate and effective solutions in their field.
ECO Artisan® in figures - September 2010 (source: CAPEB)
- 249 artisans received the ECO Artisans label in Pays de la Loire and 76 in Brittany
- 4355 exams passed to obtain the label with a success rate of 85% at the national level
- 25 craftsmen have followed the FEE Bat training in France, including 039 in Pays de la Loire
How do you become an ECO Artisan®?
Being able to meet the challenges of the Grenelle Environment Forum requires tradespeople to be trained in order to be able to assess the energy performance of a home and advise individuals in their efforts to improve their living space.
The FEE Bat training (Energy Savings Training for Building Companies and Tradespeople) is specifically designed to help tradespeople obtain the ECO Artisan® label and adopt this holistic approach, regardless of their original trade. In 2009, 12 business owners, employees, and tradespeople in the building industry participated in the FEE Bat training; the goal is to reach nearly 000 trainees by the end of 2010. This demonstrates tradespeople's awareness of the need to adapt to changes in the world and their trade.
This training is structured around 3 modules:
1st module: Identify the key elements of a comprehensive energy improvement offer for existing buildings
2nd module: Mastering software to implement a comprehensive energy improvement offer for existing buildings
3rd module: Know, master and implement high-performance technologies for improving the energy efficiency of buildings.
Although this training is not mandatory to obtain the ECO Artisan® label, it is strongly recommended and applies to all trades.
