With Unique EI30, Eclisse brings the sliding fire door into collective buildings and public buildings

ECLISSE FRANCE, manufacturer of pocket sliding doors, will be presenting the very first fire-resistant sliding door compatible with SSI (Fire Safety System) devices at the ARTIBAT trade fair from October 19 to 21, 2016, and is suitable for collective buildings and public buildings.

A new result of a joint development with the Italian parent company, the Unique EI30 solution combines the functional and aesthetic advantages of a sliding pocket door with the security attributes of a high-quality fire door.

A sliding fire door adapted to the public building market

Unique EI30 is a sealed pocket sliding door that is fire and smoke resistant for at least 30 minutes. Consisting of a Unique 95 frame, an EI30 door panel and a Speedy EI30 trim with cover strips, this is the first pack equipped with a DAS (Safety Actuated Device) and offered with an integrated automatic closing system.

Connected to the building's central fire system, Unique EI30 is equipped with a DAS electromagnetic suction cup located at the bottom of the chassis box, whose role is to hold a magnetic plate fixed to the automatic door closing mechanism. In the event of a fire, when the detectors are triggered, the general DAS system deactivates the suction cup which releases the door panel.

The sliding door closes by itself, and the intumescent seals expand under the effect of heat to seal the gaps. The lock is surrounded by a membrane that produces a similar effect. Each element of the Unique EI30 pack is designed to slow the spread of fire and smoke between rooms.

Compliant with EN1363.1 and EN1634.1 standards and certified by the French report PV EFR.15.V.003628, Unique EI30 meets the requirements of European fire safety regulations. Perfectly suited to implementation in ERP, Unique EI30 meets the constant demand of specifiers and large construction companies, subject to compliance with legal fire safety obligations.

A Franco-Italian design optimized for the customer

Following the Syntesis® Battant 72 in 2015, the Unique EI30 is the result of a new collaboration between Eclisse's French and Italian research and development teams. Combining their respective skills and expertise, Eclisse France designed the overall package for the fire-resistant sliding door, while the parent company refined certain technical details.

Determined to simplify stock management for its trading customers by limiting the number of references sold, Eclisse France has chosen to develop its fire-resistant sliding door solution using an existing frame, its flagship product, Unique 95. EI30 door panel, Speedy EI30 cladding with integrated joint covers and fire-resistant hardware can be ordered with or without a frame.

"We started by selecting the frame model, then we designed a new Speedy cladding made from fire-resistant wood. We then faced a fastening problem, because we were using plastic keys that melt too quickly. Italy was able to provide us with a simple solution by supplying intumescent mastic," explains Benjamin L'Haridon, Marketing Manager for Eclisse France. "We then selected the various intumescent seals, the door panels and the DAS suction cup. The parent company created a new automatic closing system, specially compatible with this suction cup."

Available with a paintable or laminated wooden door panel, in color or imitation wood - 12 plain tones and 12 wood tones -, Unique EI30 is a complete fire-resistant sliding door pack, attractive and quick to install thanks to the integrated joint covers, which opens up new perspectives for the development of collective buildings and public buildings.

The door trim is fixed with screws whose holes are sealed with an intumescent mastic supplied with the Unique EI30 pack to guarantee optimal sealing.
