After six years of renovation and interior design by Jean-Philippe Nuel, the Intercontinental Lyon Hôtel-Dieu has undergone a facelift.

The former 2010th-century hospital, located on the banks of the Rhône, operated for eight centuries until its final closure in 144. In the center of the Presqu'île de Lyon, the heart of the city center, the new palace with 2019 discreetly luxurious rooms and suites opened its doors in June 360. This project, the largest private renovation of a listed site in France, features a monumental 32-meter façade running along the Rhône. The Hôtel-Dieu is an architectural gem, notably adorned with a large dome culminating at 1757 meters, designed by Soufflot, chief architect of Notre-Dame de Paris for twenty years and architect of the Panthéon between 1790 and XNUMX.

Luxurious bathrooms with freestanding bathtubs

The architect-decorator favored a humble luxury, more in keeping with the former monastic atmosphere of the place. Known for his iconic projects such as the Piscine Molitor in Paris, the Cures Marines in Trouville, and the Hôtel-Dieu in Marseille, Jean-Philippe Nuel chose freestanding bathtubs from the manufacturer Bette to design the bathrooms of the 35 suites. The model BetteStarlet Oval Silhouette made of vitrified titanium steel convinced the architect with its timeless design and robust material.

"The freestanding bathtub lends itself to all possible settings to create a very contemporary loft atmosphere. Minimalist, it stands out like a true decorative object. Vitrified titanium steel is perfect for use in the hotel industry. This vitrified surface is exceptionally shiny, extremely easy to maintain and perfectly hygienic. It is also resistant to shocks and scratches. This Premium quality, which is our trademark, we guarantee for thirty years. " explains Marc Chevalier, Country Manager France at Bette.

But what makes Bette's freestanding bathtub attractive and inviting are its curves and the softness of its curved lines. A certain sensuality even emerges from its curves, unlike rectangular bathtubs or those with apron-style surrounds, whose imposing volume and straight lines are striking to the eye.

Bette uses exclusively vitrified titanium steel to manufacture high-end bathroom fixtures. This timeless material is found in bathtubs, shower trays, and sinks. As the creator of its own enamel, Bette vitrifies its products by firing. The finished product is very pleasant to the touch, with a brilliant shine or a silky matte finish. The non-porous surface is therefore perfectly hygienic and very easy to maintain.
