Botanic: a natural innovation developed by Bolon

The new Botanic flooring collection is a revolutionary innovation, a woven vinyl floor covering that preserves the environment. Botanic contains a new plasticizer, which, in turn, is based on renewable raw materials from the plant kingdom. Although the collection is inspired by the pluralism of nature, Botanic is nothing more than a tribute to simplicity and resource efficiency, which detracts nothing from its expressiveness. The new collection will be launched at the Stockholm Furniture Fair in February 2010.

“Botanic is our own garden, offering natural flora brought to life in color for you to discover and enjoy,” says Marie Eklund, Design and Marketing Director at Bolon. Botanic reflects the variety of organic architecture and the richness of nature’s detail. Photographs of nature and craftsmanship inspired the renderings of flowers, grasses, and plants in the woven vinyl. The color range, also derived from the plant world, features rich, muted earth tones combined with vibrant accents of yellow and green.

“With Botanic, we have created a tangible textile sensation. Modern in appearance, it flirts delightfully with the idioms of the past. The color variations have been developed to meet different needs. A soft shade is very suitable for large surfaces and projects, but it is also possible to punctuate it with a teasing stripe or a vibrant color like green or yellow,” continues Marie Eklund.

Botanic is available in standard tiles and rolls as well as, like the rest of the Bolon range, for unique pattern combinations via the Bolon StudioTM concept.

The Botanic collection and the new plasticizer are part of a major environmental initiative, Bolon® Green, which aims to offer a completely environmentally friendly and climate-neutral product. The innovative plasticizer was made possible through close collaboration with universities and colleges and the rapid adaptation of the latest research to industrial production. “Bolon is driven by the desire to always be number one and never stand still. With Bolon® Green, we are now striving to offer unique products, both in terms of design and the environment,” concludes Annica Eklund, Managing Director of Bolon.
