CELLUMAT - Passive house made of cellular concrete
Located in La Roque-d'Anthéron (13), BeBio Construction is an expert in the field of project management and design office services. Specializing in ecological and passive houses, BeBio Construction supports future owners in their projects and in their procedures: thermal studies, architectural designs, choice of materials, equipment, craftsmen, etc.
MONOMUR: Passive house made from Cellumat cellular concrete in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region
For their passive house, located in the Provence-Alpes–Côte d'Azur region, the owners chose the builder Bebio-Construction for several reasons. Certified by La Maison Passive France in partnership with the PassivHaus Institut, Bebio-Construction had the skills and technical expertise to build an airtight house that adapts to its environment. Furthermore, Bebio Construction's professionalism, attentiveness, follow-up, and commitment to the project convinced the owners of their choice.
For the construction of this 147 m2 detached house, Bebio-Construction used PASSIFBLOC 50 Cellumat, which enabled it to achieve the passive certificate for single-wall construction, without added insulation. Furthermore, the thermal inertia of cellular concrete provides good summer comfort, the occupants do not suffer from the heat in summer or the cold in winter.
Thierry Giambelluco, manager of Bebio-Construction and certified Passive House advisor:
« The owners wanted to build with aerated concrete, a construction system that was new to me. So I contacted several manufacturers and was impressed by the quality and technical level of the services offered by Cellumat.
The major advantage of PASSIFBLOC for passive construction is its good thermal inertia and the fact that it requires a single operator: the structure and insulation are completed in a single operation during installation. The walls do not require additional insulation or a technical void.
The intermediate infiltration test, carried out before the plaster and coatings, confirmed the effectiveness of cellular concrete in terms of airtightness. Furthermore, it is a solid material, which contributes to achieving a good, long-lasting airtightness test.»
What you need to know about Cellumat cellular concrete
By building without insulation material, without membrane and without sealing tape, but with a single material, Cellumat's PASSIFBLOC eliminates execution errors, and the wall retains its properties forever.
Furthermore, the technical challenge in a passive house is the construction nodes (floor, foundation, window frames, blinds, etc.), which are more critical than in a traditional house. Errors in the execution of these construction details can have a significant impact on the heat loss of the home.
Design of construction nodes with Cellumat cellular concrete elements - U blocks for the sill, integrated solar protection elements, drilled blocks for the integration of structural columns into the masonry...- is simple and automatically achieves unmatched psi values and temperature factors.
