Carpooling is becoming increasingly popular as a means of getting around. This practice, which meets economic, social, and environmental requirements, is now part of the habits of a growing number of users. To reduce pollutant emissions and traffic congestion, the municipality of Chambéry continues to develop its infrastructure, the latest of which is a carpool parking lot with around twenty spaces, completed in 2021. For the work, carried out by Colas, the project owner chose URBANGRAVEL® gravel stabilizing plates from JOUPLAST®, the specialist in innovative and sustainable products for outdoor developments.

Easy and quick to install, JOUPLAST® URBANGRAVEL® gravel stabilizing plates are particularly effective in stabilizing gravel, draining rainwater in a natural and optimal way and preventing soil degradation or the appearance of holes.

For the Chambéry car park, the plates were laid after the earthworks and the installation of the borders delimiting the surface. As site operations are not without certain professional risks, adequate equipment has been provided to the workers. The safety instructions were also respected throughout the duration of the work.

High compressive strength

Recommended for solving soil waterproofing problems, and therefore the risk of flooding or network saturation, JOUPLAST® URBANGRAVEL® honeycomb plates provide both perfect hold of the gravel and remarkable resistance to compression, allowing passage of heavy vehicles.

The strong section walls of the honeycomb cells guarantee resistance to the pressure exerted on the gravel when driving in car parks with high rotation. Coupled with the flexibility of the material used (recycled polyethylene), the walls provide remarkable resistance to friction and rotation of the wheels.

To be filled with 8/16 mm gravel, JOUPLAST® URBANGRAVEL® slabs support up to 600 tonnes per m2, or the equivalent of 30 full trucks. They can be used for the passage of vehicles with an axle load of 20 tonnes, and are compatible with access routes for firefighters.

Exclusive assembly system

Made in France, URBANGRAVEL® honeycomb-structured panels are quick and easy to install. They are ideal for large-scale construction projects. Made from 100% recycled polyethylene, they provide a stable, permeable surface for gravel applications that won't create puddles, runoff, or ruts. Non-slip, lightweight and easy to cut with an angle grinder, they also feature an exclusive assembly system on all 4 sides which ensures the plates are held securely together and prevent them from coming loose under heavy traffic loads.

Marking studs

URBANGRAVEL® gravel stabilizing plates can be combined with JOUPLAST® white or gray marking studs, sold separately, to easily delimit a space (parking spaces, for example).
