Dény Security relies on solar energy to accelerate its environmental transition
Summary for decision-makers
Summary for decision-makers
The SFPI Group is accelerating the responsible transformation of its subsidiaries through a policy structured around four pillars: commercial (customer satisfaction), managerial (talent retention), financial (shared tools), and environmental (reducing ecological impact). Dény Security, an ISO 14001 certified subsidiary, exemplifies this dynamic with 232 solar panels (commissioning scheduled for February 2025), covering 74% of its energy needs and aiming for a 15% reduction in energy consumption and a 10% reduction in waste.
The company has already taken concrete steps: LED lighting upgrades resulting in annual savings of 48,024 kWh, packaging recycling with 3,785 kg recovered and 150,000 liters of water saved, and the switch to QR codes to reduce paper usage. Between 2023 and 2024, CO2 emissions decreased from 3,895 to 3,638 tons. Certified as a Great Place to Work (71% achievement rate), Dény Security prioritizes local procurement (over 57%) and social inclusion through its use of sheltered workshops (ESATs).
As part of the actions implemented within its CSR policy, Dény Security recently inaugurated the installation of 232 photovoltaic panels on the roof of its historic site in Saint-Blimont (80).
DENY Security intensifies its ecological approach with concrete actions
A strong commitment across the group to accelerate the transformation of its subsidiaries
Aiming for each of its entities to become a major player in industrial responsibility, the Corporate Social Responsibility policy defined by the SFPI group is based on four key pillars:
-
commercial by deepening customer knowledge and culture at all levels in order to improve their satisfaction,
-
managerial by strengthening the role of managers to promote talent retention and anticipate team turnover,
-
financial by building common tools and reference frameworks,
-
environmental by reducing the ecological impact of all subsidiaries.
On this last point, beyond asking all the companies that make it up to take a first step towards a low-carbon strategy, the SFPI group sets them ambitious objectives: a 15% reduction in their energy consumption and a 10% reduction in the volume of their main types of waste.
With sustainable development already part of its DNA since 2014, when the French manufacturer adopted eco-design principles for its products, Dény Security has just moved up a gear to reduce its ecological footprint in line with the ISO 14001 certification obtained in 2011 as well as with the environmental pillar of the group.
480 m2 of solar surface on the roof of the historic building
The first significant example of this commitment to becoming a responsible business model is the installation of 232 solar panels on the roofs of the production site. The project, initiated in June 2022 when the manufacturer's electricity contract was up for renewal at the end of 2023, took two and a half years to complete, from initial costing, to selecting the service provider Terre Solaire, to a structural study to verify feasibility, to installation and connection to the grid.
« Commissioned in February 2025, the photovoltaic installation with a total power of 102,08 kWp already provides us with an energy coverage rate of 74% on average, including 56% in self-consumption with the aim of reselling the surplus to EDF. ", explains Antoine Douville, Deputy General Manager of Dény Security.
With a total investment of €150.000, the investment should be recouped within 5 to 7 years.
Small actions on an industrial scale... but a big step for the planet
Before implementing solar panels, Dény Security undertook many other measures including:
-
the renovation of the factory's lighting system with LED technology, which has halved the number of luminaires (113 vs. 256), representing an annual saving of 48.024 kWh and a reduction in CO2 emissions of approximately 4.078 kg,
-
waste reduction through investment in a machine that recycles cardboard boxes received from suppliers by transforming them into shipping wedges. Each year, this means 3.785 kg of packaging is recycled and 150.000 liters of water are saved,
-
the integration of QR codes on products instead of paper instructions, avoiding the printing of nearly 48.000 sheets per year.
These are all concrete actions that contribute to limiting the manufacturer's ecological footprint. Since 2021, it has carried out a carbon assessment structured around the three scopes defined by regulations (upstream activities, company activities, and downstream activities). In 2024, it will have emitted a total of 3.638 tons of CO2, compared to 3.895 tons of CO2 in 2023.
A company where it is good to work
In addition to the environmental aspect, the French security systems supplier is also committed to social issues with:
-
a purchasing policy target from local partners of over 57%,
-
inclusive recruitment which also involves the use of ESATs (Work Support Establishments and Services) for the production of packaging and the maintenance of green spaces,
-
particular attention paid to the Quality of Life at Work of its employees, recognized in 2025 by the Great Place To Work certification with a rate of 71%.
« Obtaining this certification rewards the commitment of all Dény Security employees to a shared ambition: to make our company an ever more fulfilling, responsible and unifying work environment through three fundamental values, the basis of our excellence and our ability to innovate while preserving our heritage. Know-how, respect and commitment guide our actions, shape our corporate culture and make us proud to be Dény " concludes Antoine Douville.
