ACOUSTIC PERFORMANCE GUARANTEED BY THE FCBA
Airborne noise tests carried out at the FCBA Bordeaux center in real conditions showed that
the Biofib'isolation range perfectly meets the requirements of acoustic insulation in buildings,
and even goes beyond. Thanks to their performance, Biofib' natural insulation allows
to easily achieve the standards set by the new acoustic regulations (NRA) in terms of
decibel absorption.

What is the sound reduction index Rw (C; Ctr)?
Expressed in dB (decibel), it characterizes the noise absorption capacity of a wall:
• external airborne noise: Rw+Ctr (road noise)
• indoor airborne noise: Rw+C (pink noise)
An example to better understand
For an Rw (C;Ctr) equal to 56 dB (-2; -5)
• 56 dB means that out of 100 dB emitted in the first room, the sensor has
received on average (over all frequencies) only 44 dB in the other room.
• The insulation of the wall to interior noise is equal to 54 dB (56 - 2)
• The insulation of the wall to external noise is equal to 51 dB (56 - 5)

EXAMPLES OF APPLICATIONS IN COLLECTIVE HOUSING
BIOFIB'DUO and BIOFIB'CHANVRE - Acoustic performance above standards
The tests were carried out for Biofib'duo and Biofib'chanvre with BA 13 partitions (the most widely used plasterboard in construction).
The results :
45mm insulation: Rw 42 dB (- 3; - 9)
140mm insulation: Rw 56 dB (- 2; - 7)

We then note that Biofib'duo and Biofib'chanvre in 45mm are largely adapted to the requirements of the NRA (in terms of indoor noise) for partitions separating the corridor from the kitchen, for example (NRA: 37 dB and Biofib' 45mm: 39 dB, or 42-3). The difference is even greater with the 140mm insulation. With an Rw of 54 dB, the latter are well above the new standards, whether between interior rooms or between the dwellings themselves.

BIOFIB'OUATE - The best acoustic performance in the range
Since wadding is a denser material than hemp or linen, a characteristic that favors sound insulation, Cavac Biomatériaux chose to test this insulation under optimized conditions to obtain the best possible acoustic coefficient. The tests were therefore conducted using Fermacell partitions.
The results :
45mm insulation: Rw 47 dB (- 4; - 11)
140mm insulation: Rw 61 dB (- 2; -7)
Partition wall with 3 layers of insulation (45/60/45mm): Rw 69 dB (- 2; - 7)

These results demonstrate the unique qualities of Biofib'ouate panels in terms of sound insulation. Whether in 45mm, 140mm or multi-layer, this insulation offers an Rw well above the new acoustic regulations (in interior noise: 43 dB in 45mm, 59 dB in 140mm). The test carried out for the partition wall shows that excellent results can be obtained - Rw 69 dB (-2; -7) in terms of sound insulation, whether for collective housing or individual houses.
