Suction systems for SDS-Max hammer drills and M classification vacuum cleaner

A year ago, DEWALT proudly displayed "Safety is DEWALT." Today, the yellow and black brand is taking its place as a prevention expert on construction sites. It presents two new solutions for managing dust-related risks: the first dust extraction systems for SDS-Max hammers on the market and a new Class M vacuum cleaner.

Dust: what are the issues on a construction site?
Whether made of wood, concrete, tile, glass, or other materials, dust is dangerous for the user and harmful to machinery (see end of document). It impedes visibility and therefore slows down work.
Good dust management generates numerous benefits for all those involved in a construction site: user protection, including invisible dust, protection of the workspace/site (essential during interior work, particularly when working in hospitals, public establishments, etc.), improved machine lifespan (less wear on components), better quality of work (e.g.: fixing of dowels), time savings and productivity (better visibility).

New: suction systems for SDS-Max hammer drills and demolition hammers
The first solutions on the market for extracting dust from drilling and demolition work on SDS-Max (compatible with all vacuum cleaners on the market). Simple to use and quick to install, this equipment is perfectly suited to the use of machines on construction sites. By extracting dust emissions as close as possible, the work area remains clear, thus improving precision and speed of execution.

For SDS-Max hammer drills: suction head and suction nose kit
The "drilling heads" are applied to the wall around the area to be drilled and held there by a suction cup system. It does not weigh down the machine and allows the user to move freely.
The "suction nozzles" allow the hole to be emptied of dust residue. In addition to the health benefits, this optimizes the fixation of anchors (especially chemical anchors).
89 € excluding VAT (recommended user price) the DWH050K system delivered in a case including: 1 suction cup + 2 collars (Ø 0-38mm and 38-52mm, to be chosen according to the drill diameter) + 2 suction nozzles (Ø 8 and 14 mm). Works in addition to a vacuum cleaner / sold separately

For the 16kg and 30kg SDS-Max hexagonal demolition hammers: this system supports all demolition work in the best conditions. The suction hose attached to the machine makes it easy to use.
€89 excluding VAT for the DWH052K system, delivered in a case including: hose with nozzle and hose-tool attachments. Works in conjunction with a vacuum cleaner / sold separately

For SDS-Max chisels (new from DEWALT) : three tips of different sizes adapt according to the length and diameter of the chisel (Ø 27mm max). Their spring shape absorbs shocks during chiselling. It thus guarantees good suction quality, while offering freedom and precision of movement to the user.
€89 excluding VAT for the DWH051K system delivered in a case including: 3 noses to slip onto the chisel or point, and 2 tool holder adapters. Works in conjunction with a vacuum cleaner / sold separately

New: M-class vacuum cleaner

compatible with all tools equipped with a dust extraction system (saws, routers, etc.)
Used properly, it extracts up to 99.9% of dust, protects the user from excess dust on construction sites and allows them to comply with the regulatory framework.
It has the following functions: ON/OFF in synchronization with the tool, automatic filter cleaning every 15 seconds for constant suction efficiency throughout use, and complete dust extraction (the vacuum cleaner continues to suck for 15 seconds after the machine is switched off).
In addition, DEWALT offers a range of “Air Lock” adapters, which ensure good tool/vacuum cleaner compatibility.
€799 excluding VAT for the D27902M vacuum cleaner (recommended user price), classification M (for concrete work, fine wood dust), 1380W power, maximum air flow 3660 l/min, capacity 45L, weight 13.5Kg, supplied with 4mx35mm suction hose, suction nozzle, universal adapter and dust bag
€59 excluding VAT for the complete kit of 5 Air Lock DWV9220 adapters // €29 excluding VAT for the basic kit of 3 DWV9210 adapters

Every year in France, 2.7 million employees are exposed to carcinogenic dust*, 200 workers are exposed to crystalline silica, half of whom work in construction*, and extraction at source only exists in 000% of cases*. 14% of workers have respiratory protection*
*Source: SUMER 2003 Survey

Exposure to dust can cause silicosis, cardiac and bronchopulmonary complications, pleuropulmonary cancers, and nasal cavity cancers. These conditions are listed in official occupational disease tables.

Decree R4412-149 of 2005 sets the limits for exposure to dust (exposure over 8 hours): 1 mg/m3 for wood, 0.1 mg/m3 for quartz silicas* and 0.05 mg/m3 for cristobalite and tridymite silicas*
*Components of concrete, cement, bricks, tiles, mirrors, glass, etc.
