In the nuclear industry, the risks associated with handling radioactive materials require appropriate protection to avoid any contamination of personnel.

DuPont Personal Protection Expertise

Indeed, workers can be exposed to:

  • chemical splashes and liquid chemicals (sulfuric acid, nitric acid, sodium hydroxide, etc.) that are irritating and corrosive to the skin,
  • chemicals, water or liquids contaminated by radioactivity.

To protect yourself, the use of single-use protective clothing with a breathing apparatus is essential. This is the only way to avoid possible contamination by radioactive particles or liquids.

DuPont Personal Protection offers three single-use protective garments perfectly suited to radioactive risks:

  • the Tyvek® 600 Plus hooded suit, for protection against dry and residual radioactive particles,
  • the breathable Tyvek® 800 J coverall, ideal for high humidity conditions. It is the only Type 3 coverall to protect against pressurized water-based inorganic chemicals,
  • the Tychem® 2000 C hooded suit, for people exposed to radiologically contaminated chemicals.

All DuPont Personal Protection protective clothing is available on the intuitive and comprehensive SafeSPEC™ online selection tool: www.safespec.fr
