Erlus: The E 58 SL-D tile now available in slate gray

The E 58 SL-D tile is now available in slate gray. Manufactured at the Erlus factory in Teistungen (Thuringia), it is directly colored in the mass. This eliminates the need to rework the cut edges, making them virtually invisible. This saves time and money during installation!

A universal renovation tile tinted throughout

The universal tile of the E 58 purlin family

With this mass-dyed version, ERLUS is further expanding its E 58 SL range. It combines all the advantages of the E 58 purlin family: universal, economical, and versatile. It is available with all ERLUS accessories, including aluminum ones. The E 58 SL tile is a curved purlin tile suitable for both new construction and renovation. Of course, like all the tiles in the range, it is particularly robust and resistant to breakage. With its variable 30-millimeter exposure and significant lateral play, the E 58 SL tile is very easy to install. The quadruple overlap at the corner of the tiles, with proper adhesion, gives it exceptionally high resistance to storms or wind suction. This tile is particularly suitable for the renovation of roofs with tiles with an exposure of 32,5 to 35,5 centimeters.

A thousand-year-old variegated sandstone Teistungen
The E 58 SL-D roof tile is manufactured at the Erlus factory in Teistungen from variegated sandstone from prehistoric Teistungen. We have specially developed a preparation and manufacturing process that gives the fired roof tile its fine, refined surface. This 250-million-year-old material is transformed into the premium roof tile Karat® XXL, Hohlfalz SL, E 58 PLUS®, and E 58 SL-D.

Teistungen's variegated sandstone is extracted directly at the production site, preserving the ecosystem. We create alternative habitats for animals if they are disturbed by extraction. For example, the stump lizard inherited a new, suitable habitat on a stone-terraced terrain. After extraction, the areas are reforested with native hardwoods and transformed into biotopes. Endangered species thus find refuge and ideal living conditions there.

The sandstone is extracted from the hillside in layers using a tracked scraper and then stored. It is then ground into clay powder in a pendulum mill and mixed with water. To obtain a homogeneous ceramic mass, the material is constantly moistened and stored for approximately 70 days in the building. This ensures the best plasticity for subsequent shaping, drying, and firing processes.
