New generation of FEIN drills
FEIN, the inventor of the world's first handheld electric drill, presents new drills
Saverne, January 20, 2010. FEIN, the manufacturer of unrivaled power tools, presents three new drills in the BOP series. Developed for working with metal, wood, plastic, and composite materials, these high-end power drills are suitable for drilling, countersinking, and tapping. They are used in the fields of metal construction, mechanical engineering, finishing work, and automotive repair.
quality
In 1895, FEIN invented the world's first handheld electric drill. For 115 years, this German company with its traditional values has been developing drills and power tools specifically for various applications in industry and trade. All FEIN tools are produced in Schwäbisch Gmünd-Bargau, where their precision and quality are guaranteed by modern production facilities, qualified personnel, and the use of high-quality materials. FEIN is one of the few manufacturers to use the pot construction method for its drills. The four components—drill chuck, gear, motor/housing, and handle—are arranged on a highly stable linear axis in a warp-proof housing. The main feature of the pot construction is a glass-fiber-reinforced motor housing that completely encases the induction unit and armature. Furthermore, the gear housing is made of metal and ensures the stability of the ball bearings and, therefore, high rotational precision. Highly stressed components such as the drill shaft, armature shaft and bearing produce little vibration, ensuring a long service life even under high shock load or prolonged use.
Maximum performance and precision
Drilling in hard materials and prolonged use require high-performance machines. Compared to products from other brands, FEIN high-performance motors have a high copper content, which guarantees better current flow and very high torque. The 500-watt motor has high drive power across the entire speed range. The high rotational speed is guaranteed by the high-quality metal drill shaft and quick-release chuck. The safety lock of the drill chuck and the self-tightening chuck jaws prevent the drill bit from slipping under load, enabling efficient drilling and safe working. In addition, the FEIN BOP generation of drills is equipped with an integrated automatic spindle lock mechanism that locks the drill shaft when the machine is switched off. This allows higher clamping forces to be applied to the drilling tool during tool changes. The drilling tool can then be changed comfortably with one hand.
Ergonomics
The housings of the FEIN BOP drills are ergonomically designed and particularly easy to handle thanks to the FEIN touch-sensitive handle. Compared to previous models, this handle is better adapted to the shape of the hand and is practical for both right- and left-handed users. Two positions are possible depending on the application: the touch-sensitive position, recommended for gentle drilling in the direct drilling axis or for small diameters, in which the machine is housed in the upper part of the handle shell; the power position, on the other hand, is ideal for optimum power transmission when drilling large diameters. In both positions, the throttle switch can be comfortably and safely activated with at least two fingers. The throttle allows continuous adjustment of the rotational speed depending on the application. This allows the user to start at a low speed until the drill bit has sufficiently gripped the material. All FEIN BOP models are equipped with a rotational direction reverser and can also be used as tapping machines. The 5 m cable guarantees a large operating radius.
Three new models
The new FEIN drills of the BOP generation replace the 630 and 636 series. They were developed for various applications and complement the wide range of FEIN rotary and impact drills and milling machines.
The FEIN BOP 6 is a single-speed drill for diameters up to six millimeters in steel. Its high rotation speed (up to 4 rpm) and powerful drive enable efficient drilling in metal, wood, or plastic.
The FEIN BOP 10 is designed for assembly work. This compact drill with a torque of 9 Nm is one of the most powerful in its class. The single-speed drill is ideal for diameters up to 10 mm in steel and for threads up to M 6. Thanks to its compact size and favorable angle dimension, the FEIN BOP 10 is also practical for confined spaces.
The FEIN BOP 10-2 is a two-speed universal drill with an ideal speed range for diameters up to 10 mm in steel and stainless steel. Its mechanical reduction ensures high driving power in first gear. Its torque of 20 Nm makes it a versatile machine suitable for many materials and can also be used for tapping up to M 10.
FEIN BOP series drills are available from specialist dealers.
