Finnforest is now Metsä Wood
Metsäliitto Group is now Metsä Group. The names and visual identities of its divisions have been updated. Finnforest is now Metsä Wood.
The new names and corporate image represent the final stage of a comprehensive restructuring based on the Group's strategy. The objective of the transaction is to create a more unified and competitive forestry group. The Group's divisions focus on five business areas: sanitary and cooking paper, paperboard, wood-based products and solutions, pulp, and wood supply and associated forestry services. The common name "Metsä" for all divisions unites them into a unified Metsä Group. Metsä-Botnia is now Metsä Fibre, while Metsä Tissue retains its previous name. The wood supply operations are known as Metsä Forest. M-real Corporation will formally decide on the name change to Metsä Board at the Annual General Meeting on March 28, 2012.
The new corporate image and logo, shared by Metsä Group and its divisions, consisting of the word "Metsä" and a moose's head carrying a forest in its antlers, signal that Metsä Group is a responsible forestry company that is stronger than ever, committed to evolving while respecting its roots, and offering products and services that contribute to people's daily well-being.
“Metsä Group is proud to be a forestry company. Our company is owned by forest owners, which gives our business a long-term perspective. Our main raw material is renewable wood from sustainably managed Nordic forests. We offer lightweight and eco-friendly board, high-quality pulp, popular product brands, valued sanitary and cooking paper solutions, and top-level expertise in the wood products sector. We have a great story to tell,” says Kari Jordan, President and CEO of Metsä Group.
“The new logo is proud and modern. It perfectly reflects Metsä Wood—we are constantly evolving, without forgetting our roots. Our customers know us as ‘Finnforest,’ and this name change will strengthen our corporate identity. We will be perceived as part of a large forestry company that produces not only high-quality wood products, but also first-class pulp, sanitary paper, and cardboard. The new logo sharpens our profile. With a harmonized identity, both Metsä Group and Metsä Wood will benefit from better brand recognition,” explains Timo Karinen, Group Vice President, Metsä Wood.
