Finnforest Exclusive: “XL-sized” walls thanks to the new extra-wide paneling

Finnforest (Metsäliitto Group) is expanding its range of decorative paneling with four new "extra-large" models, featuring lightly brushed paneled slats in white and pebble gray. With an exclusive width of 4 cm, these XL panels in white Northern fir (spruce) are coated with a hydrowax coating. Two finishes are available: a full slat and a slat falsely split in two by a saw cut to give the appearance of two slats of different widths. XL paneling can be used in both new and renovation projects and allows for a multitude of installation configurations to create original and personalized ambiances: alternating the two colors and/or the two finishes. Made from wooden slats glued together, the slats provide greater stability and their large dimensions facilitate installation.

XL paneling, a Finnforest exclusive

The new "extra-wide" paneling is an exclusive offering from Finnforest, measuring 30 cm wide (2,50 m long and 15 mm thick). After being lightly brushed to structure the appearance and bring out the grain, the boards are coated with a hydrowax in two shades: pebble gray and white.

The slats are made from PEFC-certified Northern white fir (spruce). This wood, sourced from sustainably managed Finnish forests, is both lightweight and strong, and has mechanical qualities that are valued for interior joinery, both in new construction and renovation.

The original idea: a grooved blade

Finnforest has chosen to offer each board (pebble grey and white) in a grooved version, in addition to the solid board, to give the illusion of 3 different boards. The grooved board has the same usable width as the solid board, i.e. 28,7 cm (for a total width of 30 cm), but a 3 mm saw cut separates it into two parts, 11 and 17,4 cm wide respectively. The shape of the groove and the profile of the board are identical: straight elegy. 

A personalized decorative product

Pebble gray, white, solid or grooved, Finnforest XL paneling is available in 4 models to give free rein to creativity and originality. The choice of colors allows you to personalize a decor: white to brighten corridors or attics, gray to bring a modern and trendy touch, random repetition of white and gray for a resolutely original atmosphere. The alternation of solid and grooved slats helps to break up the regularity of the lines and can be used to delimit the spaces of living rooms, whether it is a dining area, bathroom, bedroom, entrance...

More stable and quicker to install blades

To make this paneling, Finnforest glued 2,50 m long wooden slats using the same principle as for a shelf. The stability of the boards is therefore much better than that of traditional paneling, and this also reduces the effect of wood warping (warping). Finally, these large XL boards are also easier and faster to install than conventional paneling. They are nailed and glued to sufficiently spaced battens.
