FINNFOREST's commitment to sustainable timber supply has just been recognized by receiving three certifications following its audit of the Timber Trade Environmental Charter. The first environmental charter for purchasing and selling in the timber industry, it requires signatories, such as FINNFOREST, to adhere to strict specifications:

FINNFOREST

- increase purchases of eco-certified wood each year,
- promote eco-certification among suppliers and partners,
- improve the information provided to customers on products.

The three sheets obtained by FINNFOREST are a guarantee of respect for environmental issues in the timber trade, both in terms of timber purchases and sales to professionals.

RIGOROUS CONTROL ON THE GROUND

A mandatory step for all companies that have signed the Environmental Charter for the Timber Trade, this audit is conducted every two years to monitor concrete actions on the ground and assess improvements. Conducted impartially by the Technical Center for Wood and Furniture (CTBA), it establishes a rating based on:
- the percentage of wood purchased from forests that have received sustainable management certification,
- from the proposed references for which product information is displayed and the technical sheet is available.

Depending on the rating, one, two, or three leaves are awarded to define the company's overall level. The three-leaf award demonstrates the Group's ability to meet market needs while rigorously respecting environmental issues.

A LONG-STANDING COMMITMENT TO THE SUSTAINABLE SUPPLY OF WOOD

FINNFOREST is part of the Metsäliitto Group, which supplies it with raw timber. The Metsäliitto cooperative consists of 131 forest owners. Other sources of supply include Russia, the Baltic countries, and Western Europe.

FINNFOREST wood comes from sustainably managed forests and is legally traded. 97% of FINNFOREST's forests are PEFC certified, compared to only 7% of the world's forests. They do not come from protected areas or ancient forests with high ecological value.

FINNFOREST knows the origin of the wood and supports forest certification carried out by independent and reliable third parties.

Metsäliitto takes into account the economic, social and environmental aspects of logging and forest management operations.
