Fischer participated in the renovation project of the First Tower in La Défense
with FNA II hammer anchors and FAZ II anchor bolts
Built in the 70s, the Axa Tower, located in La Défense, underwent major transformation work over a period of 3 years (2008-2011) on both the building envelope and its height. Raised by 69 m, the new First Tower became the tallest tower in France at 231 m. For the anchoring of the fire-resistant sealing plates and curtain walls, the fixing expert fischer was selected with its FAZ II and FNA II systems.
This large-scale project, which was unprecedented according to its promoters, required the sizing of the entire facade with the provision of calculation notes for the fixing plates for the curtain wall frames.
Numerous on-site tests, enabling the resistance of the fixings to be checked in real-life situations, have enabled the suitability of fischer products to be validated for the specific requirements of this site.
For the fixing of the sealing panels and the 40.000 m² of curtain walls, the FNA II hammer-in anchor and the FAZ II fischer anchor bolt were chosen. Thanks to its short edge and center distances, excellent fire resistance, low anchorage depth and ease of installation, the FNA II hammer-in anchor was the technical solution for this project. The FAZ II anchor bolt was also chosen because it provides perfectly secure fixing for heavy loads in concrete with short edge distances and reduced center distances for use in narrow substrates and with small plates. In addition, it stood out for its ease and speed of installation.
Finally, the rigor that Fischer imposes on its manufacturing process and the quality of the steel used for its products were also decisive arguments in the choice of the supplier for the fasteners.
In total, no fewer than 45.000 FNA II hammer-in anchors, 10.000 FAZ II anchor bolts were used for fixing the weatherboards and curtain walls, as well as a large number of sealing cartridges recommended by fischer. With this extraordinary project, the fischer fixing expert was able to fully leverage its expertise and know-how. fischer demonstrated its ability to respond to complex issues by providing safe and efficient technical solutions, support for the facade specialist and the design office in the project and a range of services (calculation notes, on-site tests, advice, recommendations, etc.).
