Freud strengthens its presence in France
Expertise serving companies in the wood and wood-based processing industry
Freud decided to expand its reputation in the French market by integrating the Robert Bosch France structure. In 2009, the Italian manufacturer joined the Bosch group, allowing it to take advantage of the manufacturer's extensive network of partners and subsidiaries.
Starting this year, the company will be able to rely on the group's logistics warehouse, located in Germany, as well as its order management and invoicing systems. By taking advantage of these new services and a dedicated sales force, Freud intends to significantly improve the visibility and accessibility of its products.
To establish its reputation and support its development in France, Freud has just launched his new website www.freudtools.fr. This includes the company's product catalogs and a history of the manufacturer. A "our resellers" tab allows users to locate distribution locations and sharpeners closest to them.
Freud: A story “Made in Italy”
Freud is an Italian family business founded in 1962 in the Udine region.
This region was home to many craftsmen and manufacturers in the furniture and woodworking industries, allowing Freud to work directly with local businesses and offer them tailored solutions by testing its new innovations in real-world applications. This synergy enabled Freud to quickly grow to become a market leader in woodworking cutting tools.
The company started its business with rotary tools, recognizable by their red color, then gradually diversified to offer today router bits, brazed cutters, circular saw blades, inserts and tool holders for stationary, semi-stationary and portable machines.
Freud offers a catalog of over 4000 references for all applications, primarily related to woodworking and wood-based products. The major new feature at the end of 2020 is the launch of a range of blades for corded and cordless portable and semi-portable saws. The strength of this range lies in its wide coverage of applications (HPL, fiber cement, etc.) and machine types (portable and semi-stationary of all brands).
The goal of this range for cordless machines is to optimize battery life. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to reduce the effort of the machine.
Therefore, Freud worked on the following points:
- specific tooth geometries
- suitable carbide formulas
- reduction in the thickness of the blade body
- optimized blade body coating
Freud tools are 100% “Made in Italy.” The four production sites are located in the northeast of Italy, near Udine.
The Fagagna factory, dedicated to the production of circular saw blades, made Freud the world's leading blade manufacturer.
The Colloredo site is dedicated to the manufacture of milling cutters and drill bits, while the Martignacco manufacturing unit houses the carbide factory, a major Freud feature.
The company is in fact the only tool manufacturer to produce its carbide in-house, which allows it to control and monitor its quality throughout the production cycle, from the supply of raw materials to the finished tools.
Innovation has been at the heart of Freud's strategy since the company's inception. Continuous investment in research and development has led to improved tool performance and increased machine productivity.
The Pavia di Udine headquarters now houses one of Europe's leading research centers for cutting tools. It is responsible for the invention of laser-cut anti-vibration slots in blade bodies and non-stick coatings, which are now widely available.
