Fusion of materials and decorative elements for a modern and welcoming interior

Despite the generally good condition, the challenge was to refine the aesthetics to suit the occupants' tastes, while renovating the kitchen and bathroom. With a tight budget and a three-month deadline, the architects rose to the challenge with ingenuity and creativity.

Preserved tiling, anchoring a timeless style

The first element that catches your eye in this kitchen is undoubtedly its floor. This vintage tile, a relic of the old layout, has been deliberately preserved.

Its graphic pattern and authenticity infuse the room with a strong personality. Studio Castille chose to highlight it by pairing it with furniture with clean lines, soft tones—white and beige—as well as refined materials, such as the textured tiles on the splashback and dark wood.

A library designed as a sculpture

"Inserted into the recesses left by an old chimney flue, it was designed to break with the classic bookcase model. While the original lower cabinets have been preserved, the upper parts have been redesigned as a sculpted volume, carved into the material," explains Studio Castille.

Soft beiges, natural wood, warm materials, and generous light: every detail contributes to a fluid and cohesive atmosphere. The layout and decor combine to create a setting that is both simple and elegant.
