In line with its core business of electricity production, GE Energy now offers a photovoltaic solution. Easily installed thanks to its "Plug and Play" system, the system operates from dawn until dusk. In addition to this first offering, a second should soon be launched, positioning GE as a complete offering on the market.

Press Release - June 2010

Industrial Solutions, a division of GE Energy, launches its photovoltaic offering.

Since the beginning of 2010, Industrial Solutions (formerly Power Controls) has been marketing its photovoltaic offering in Europe, consisting of SVT inverters and DC and AC electrical protection solutions.

Connected to the grid, the SVT inverter converts solar energy into electrical current. It is the heart of the PV system and its performance will allow you to take full advantage of the system's PV panels while ensuring reliability and optimum efficiency.

It is sold with photovoltaic installation monitoring software (or available on www.ge.com/frpowerprotection). It analyzes in real time the data of each inverter or the system with status information (normal, standby, error, stop) and measurements (daily, monthly and annual trend curves, CO2 values and ).

Real benefits for installers

The inverter has an IP65 protection rating and allows for safe and easy installation (Plug & Play solution) both indoors and outdoors. Each inverter is supplied with 3m long Plug & Play cables equipped with MC4 connectors for connection between the disconnect box and the inverter.

Installation is risk-free, requires no specific tools and is reliable over time. Furthermore, the proposed solutions comply with the UTE C15-712 guide. Finally, the configuration, from the front panel of the inverter, is very easy. In fact, the inverter is equipped with a keypad and a screen allowing commissioning, viewing of faults and production.

and for the user.

Equipped with transformerless technology, the inverter achieves an efficiency of 96%. The wide DC input voltage range allows for power generation from the first rays of sunlight until dusk.

The 4 and 5 kW offer is equipped with 2 MPPT (trackers) which allows a single inverter to manage 2 separate PV fields (2 roof sections oriented differently, 2 different types of panels on the same installation)

The range, initially extending up to 5 kW, allows us to cover tertiary needs up to 40 kWp. Industrial Solutions offers inverter coupling solutions as well as dedicated electrical protection solutions for these requirements.

Another added value of the product is the communication interface. The Ethernet card supplied as standard with the inverter, and the software, allow you to visualize production and monitor the photovoltaic field.

A large number of parameters (produced power, operating incident, PV field voltage, etc.) can be sent to the producer by SMS or Email from the PC equipped with the SVT software. Thanks to these communication tools, the user can, by connecting his inverter to an ADSL box, follow all these elements via the internet from anywhere in the world.

Finally, for quiet operation, the inverter has a fanless cooling system and can therefore be installed indoors.

The inverter is guaranteed for 5 years with the possibility of extending it to 20 years and is available through professional distribution networks.

Industrial Solutions also offers a range of AC and DC protection boxes for photovoltaic applications up to 5kW: DC cut-off box, AC protection box and DC protection box equipped with surge arresters.

In addition to these turnkey enclosures, Industrial Solutions also has a wide selection of modular components and domestic and tertiary cabinets for the protection of both residential and tertiary applications.

Why is GE positioning itself in the photovoltaic market?

GE has long been a leading player in the electrical protection, power quality and power generation markets.

Industrial Solutions therefore had to meet a growing need and offer a complete range of photovoltaic solutions: protection of property and people and conversion of direct current to alternating current energy. An innovative range of thin-film solar panels (currently under development for the American market) should soon be launched. Industrial Solutions positions itself as the "complete offer" player in the photovoltaic market.
