Immersion in the technology of Salmson's new pump
A specialist in pumping systems, Salmson is constantly improving its solutions, including its Immersion D4 pump, designed for submersion. Thanks to the latest developments, it is now possible to install it vertically or horizontally, to pump at greater depths, and to guarantee perfect motor insulation.

SALMSON continues its product development: technological evolution of the IMMERSON drilling pump range
SALMSON has just renewed its range of drilling pumps Immerson D4 : a new generation of 4-inch borehole pumps.
They are equipped with new features that contribute to increasing their efficiency, reliability, and making them more efficient both technically and economically. The Immerson generation "C" has been available since January 2010.
APPLICATIONS
The pumps Immerson D4 SALMSON are submersible borehole pumps. They are used in various applications such as:
• water collection from boreholes (lake, river, etc.),
• drinking water supply for urban and rural areas, as well as industrial water supply,
• fire fighting,
• water overpressure,
• the supply of water jets and fountains,
• the circulation of cooling water.
EVOLUTION & IMPROVEMENT
After conclusive technical and market tests on three models of the new "C" generation, all models were replaced in January 3.
The Immerson D4 presents a large number of improvements and concrete advantages:
• Hydraulics equipped with floating wheels guarantee reduced wear and better performance; upper and intermediate bearings in elastomer/chrome ensure exceptional sand resistance.
• The cells are equipped with particularly robust Noryl wheels and diffusers.
• A non-return valve is integrated as well as a strainer in the suction body to facilitate pump-motor alignment.
• Pumping possibilities have been pushed to greater depths.
• The materials and construction elements are insensitive to corrosion; the main parts are made of stainless steel, chrome-plated stainless steel, AISI 304 stainless steel.
• The pump can be installed vertically or horizontally.
• The motor is available in a 400 V three-phase version or a 230 V single-phase version with permanent capacitor. The motor complies with the drinking water regulations (ACS).
• The motor is completely waterproof and electrically insulated.
• Quick Connect (-QC) variant with electrical cable starter equipped with a quick connector.
RANGES OF USE
The Immerson D4 offers a speed of 2900 rpm with a frequency of 50 Hz and a maximum flow rate of 24 m³/h. The maximum head is 322 mCE. The motor has an insulation class B and an IP 68 protection rating. The maximum temperature of the conveyed water is + 40 °C.
SALMSON always offers numerous accessories for equipping its pumps. The Immerson D4 has an optional Yn7000 control box, a water shortage unit (BME), motor power cable kit with connector and fixing clamps, isolation valves, stainless steel cooling skirts (*), Etc.
Marketed from January 2010, the pump Immerson D4 de SALMON was created with the aim of offering customers a new range of pumps that are more robust, more efficient and capable of providing the best possible energy yields.
Constantly listening to the needs of its customers, SALMON provides them with its technology and know-how in order to meet the technical requirements of a sector which has become a challenge for the future.
(*)In the case where the drilling diameter is significantly larger than that of the pump, or when the latter is installed in a tank, it is necessary to use a motor cooling skirt for specific use: vertical or horizontal.
About the SALMSON “Water Cycle” department
With its experience in pumps, agitators and pumping systems and aware of the challenges of water control, SALMON created in 2000 a department dedicated to the “Water Cycle”.
The objectives of this department, composed of specialists, are to integrate environmental issues and develop specific solutions to meet the expectations of its partners. Having grown steadily since its creation, this department plays a major role for all stakeholders in the water treatment sector.
Salmson offers products and solutions for:
- the capture
- drinking water treatment
- distribution, supply/overpressure
- collection and networks
- treatment and purification
-rejection.
