FOAMGLAS insulation + waterproofing
25-year guaranteed longevity for roofs
Pittsburgh Corning, a manufacturer of cellular glass thermal insulation and a subsidiary of Owens Corning, is shaking things up by offering the Toiture25 Guarantee.®This is a 25-year guarantee on flat roofs under waterproofing, insulated with FOAMGLAS®.
GuaranteeRoof25 Device®
- 25-year guarantee on the thermal resistance of FOAMGLAS® cellular glass insulation from the moment the work is completed. Thermal performance: the new FOAMGLAS® T3+, which has had a Technical Approval (DTA) since 2018, currently represents the best non-combustible insulation under waterproofing (lambda = 0,036 W/mK).
- 15-year guarantee on the roof's watertightness, after the end of the statutory ten-year guarantee.
Long-term security
Remember that insulation and its thermal performance are not covered by the ten-year warranty offered by waterproofing companies. Currently, companies do not guarantee the thermal resistance of the insulation used over time. The FOAMGLAS Roof25® Guarantee® therefore constitutes a radical change in the way of designing flat roofs.
The 25-year guarantee on thermal insulation installed under waterproofing is unique to date and corresponds to a request for financial guarantees from project owners on their investments. In addition, it makes it possible to secure certain applications, such as roofs equipped with solar panels or roof gardens, and to guarantee their profitability and depreciation without worrying about the possible renovation of the roof complex. Indeed, is it really economical to invest in a roof that must be renovated 15 years later?
The 15-year guarantee, complementary to the ten-year insurance, on waterproofing provides a tangible element of the economic choice made by investing in the 'FOAMGLAS® Compact + Waterproofing' Roof.
The rigid and stable FOAMGLAS® insulating layer provides long-lasting waterproofing. And, being waterproof itself, it provides exceptional roof protection in the event of a leak in the waterproofing.
Warranty Conditions
The Toiture25® Guarantee takes effect upon receipt of the roofs via a contract binding Pittsburgh Corning to the project owner.
Two main provisions must be respected within the framework of this Guarantee: the implementation of FOAMGLAS® chamfers at the level of the waterproofing upstands (or the insulation of the waterproofing upstands), and technical assistance on the construction sites by FOAMGLAS® technicians.
The following excerpts from the testimonials of building owners published in the attached brochure “GarantieToiture25® 25 years of guarantee A ROOF WITHOUT WORRIES” reflect the performance of the system:
"(…) According to a survey, it turned out that the roof was in perfect condition and did not need to be redone (after 25 years…)", observes Pascal Denisse, Head of Technical Services, Grand Hôpital de l'Est Francilien, Coulommiers site (77).
"(…) About 35 years ago, we discovered the existence of FOAMGLAS® (…) It can be guaranteed because it is the subject of very good feedback (…) we have never had any problems with this insulation", says Philippe Gautier, ARCOS Architecture (75).
"(…) In 1993, we carried out the complete renovation of a roof terrace with this product, and since then we have not had the slightest problem with infiltration. From now on, we only use FOAMGLAS® for work requiring perfect and lasting waterproofing (…)", notes Jean-Yves Dupuis, Director of Technical Services at the Hospices de Beaune (21).
"(…) The other major benefit is avoiding roof leaks, even if the waterproofing membranes are punctured because the FOAMGLAS® insulation is completely waterproof (…) We have not gone back to the first roof built in 1993, and since then we have covered 50 m000 on most of our colleges", notes Alain Leduc, Building Studies Officer, Pas-de-Calais Departmental Council (62).
"With this very stable insulation, not only do we no longer have any leaks, but the waterproofing doubles the theoretical lifespan of flat roofs, i.e. approximately
40 years instead of 20. (…) Since this choice of cellular glass for roof insulation (more than
20 years), the Malakoff OPH benefits from a 0 roof claims rate and no longer has any roof claims to manage,” notes Jean-Pierre Chassin, Territorial Engineer at the Malakoff Public Housing Office (92).
