Insulate sustainably with Cavac biomaterials
To offer an eco-friendly alternative to traditional mineral wool insulation, Cavac launched its range of natural insulation products at the Maison Bois d'Angers trade show: Biofib hemp, duo, and wadding. Thanks to their unique properties, they provide perfect insulation for all types of homes while respecting the environment.

Biofib' Isolation, a new range of natural insulation based on hemp
More and more French people are expressing their desire to live in a sustainable, environmentally friendly habitat, made from ecological and high-performance products. The CAVAC group, with its subsidiary CAVAC Biomatériaux, is fully committed to this approach and is offering an alternative to traditional mineral wools (fossil resources) with the launch of a range of naturally ecological, high-performance insulation materials at the upcoming Maison Bois d'Angers trade show (October 15-18, 2010):
BIOFIB' HEMP, BIOFIB' DUO and BIOFIB' WADDING.
Made from plant fibers (especially hemp), these insulators are therefore "renewable" raw materials, perfectly in line with the spirit of sustainable development. Hemp wools, recognized for their ecological virtues, are among the insulators that have the lowest impact on the environment. Indeed, hemp does not require any pesticides for its cultivation, nor irrigation; it assimilates a large quantity of CO2 during its growth, it enhances less rich land and participates in crop rotation (biodiversity, soil regeneration).
CAVAC Biomaterials launches its new range of natural insulation materials
BIOFIB' CHANVRE - insulation by nature
Biofib' hemp is a natural and ecological insulation material made by layering hemp fibers. Available in rolls or semi-rigid panels, it is primarily intended for the thermal insulation of residential buildings (walls, roofs, and floors) in both new and renovated construction.
Main advantage: Natural regulation of humidity (ambient comfort)
BIOFIB' DUO - the dual-performance insulation
Biofib' duo is a unique blend of hemp and flax fibers, the combination of which contributes to enhanced thermal and acoustic insulation. Biofib' duo semi-rigid panels and rolls (45 to 200 mm thick) are specially designed for "ecological" and "comfortable" home insulation, with high thermal performance.
Main advantage: Increased thermal efficiency (under current CSTB and ACERMI technical advice)
BIOFIB' OUATE - the comfort amplifier
Biofib' wadding, an insulation made from natural hemp fibers and wadding (recycled cellulose from newspapers), is especially suited to the thermal and acoustic insulation of residential and commercial buildings. It is packaged in the form of semi-rigid panels measuring 45, 100, 120, and 140 mm. Biofib' wadding is primarily used for the thermal and acoustic insulation of walls, roofs, and floors, both in new and renovated buildings.
Main advantage: Recognized acoustic performance (FCBA tests)
A unique industrial approach in Europe
The CAVAC Biomatériaux industrial facility is the first in Europe to ensure the defibration and coating of its plant-based insulation materials on the same production site in Vendée. Hemp and flax are grown within a 100 km radius of the processing site, thus avoiding numerous transport costs and associated CO2 emissions. This mastery of cultivation and processing represents a definite industrial advantage, both in terms of regularity and batch traceability (French origin).
Finally, CAVAC Biomatériaux pursues its goal of a totally ecological production with zero waste: All co-products not used for insulation (hemp shives, flax shives, fines) are recovered in other outlets (building coatings, bedding, animal feed, etc.). BIOFIB' insulation therefore has a very favorable carbon footprint and contributes "doubly" to energy savings and the protection of the planet.
