The Bihr Box, the designer above-ground waste collector
Often unattractive, waste collectors blend poorly into the urban landscape. Faced with this reality and the difficulty of burying the collectors, Bihr environnement has designed a model with clean lines and colors. With its large capacity, it can collect newspapers and paper waste of all kinds, as well as glass.

BIHR BOX SYSTEM® waste collection in city centers
Lthe BIHR company Environment, a subsidiary of the BONNA SABLA group, is innovating in the field of waste pre-collection by offering communities the first above-ground container made of concrete and metal that does not require civil engineering work.
Based on the observation that in cities where basements are particularly congested, and that, however, it is essential to carry out selective waste collection, Bonna Sabla has designed a high-capacity container that does not require civil engineering work. This means time savings, immediate efficiency and cost savings.
Designed as a stand-alone urban facility, it combines functionality and aesthetics.
Bihr Box System® is currently the only above-ground container with a storage capacity of up to 5 m3 for heavy waste such as glass and newspapers/magazines. It provides a real solution to the problem of collections, which are thus more spaced out.
If the BBS® container is dedicated to selective sorting, it is also suitable for receiving packaging or household waste.
The access height to the hatches at 1,10 m makes Bihr Box System ® accessible to people with reduced mobility and compliant with the requirements of standard NF 13071-1 and NF 13071-2.
This new equipment therefore particularly concerns Communities, Communities of Communes, Urban or Agglomeration Communities, SICTOM, SMICTOM, SIRTOM, Joint Syndicates, Public Intercommunal Cooperation Establishments, prescribers, social landlords and town halls.
Urban design and resistance
Thanks to its modern design and high-quality finishes, this container fits remarkably well into the landscape. In terms of finishing, BBS® offers its concrete tank in 5 different looks: stone look, gray deactivated look, sanded Carrara white look, Marquetry stamped look, Bridge stamped look.
Its upper part is topped with a structure made of 40x40 mm galvanized steel or aluminum tubes, each louvered panel can be replaced by a solid panel and become a communication or information support. The roof is equipped with gutters and its slope does not allow the retention of waste.
Its other qualities are numerous, particularly on the technical level. Above all, Bihr Box System ® is equipped with a single-piece, watertight reinforced concrete tank which does not allow any residual liquid to pass through and thus helps keep the floor clean.
The concrete uses high-strength white cement with a dosage of 450 kg/m3. The wall thickness is 65 mm. Its fire resistance is excellent, as it has an M0 classification (Euroclass A2-s1, d0).
The storage container is made of 3 mm thick galvanized steel sheet, with the emptying hatches up to 5 mm thick. A Kinshofer or single-hook gripping system allows for collection by crane truck.
Each side of the BBS® can accommodate one or two openings. In addition, the same Bihr Box System ® can see its use modified thanks to its interchangeable hatch panels.
By their dimensions, their weight, the quality of the materials, the containers Bihr Box System ® offer a flexible, modular and economical response (purchase and maintenance) with a high level of security and resistance to vandalism.
Implementation
Containers Bihr Box System ® come in three volumes: 1,5 m3, 3,5 m3 and 5 m3.
Its installation is extremely easy, especially for the 1,5 m3 and 3,5 m3 models which do not require any special work, the only requirement being to have a flat surface for good stability and a clear space above so that nothing hinders handling.
For the 5 m3 model, it is recommended to excavate only 50 cm deep and to place the tank level on a bed of compacted sand at the bottom of the excavation. The equipment thus remains accessible to people with reduced mobility.
