The framework of the Priory of Charity on the Loire protected from wood-eating insects by a CTB-A+ certified company
Wood treatment as part of the restoration of a historic monument
Listed as a historic monument and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Priory of Charity-sur-Loire (58), founded in the 2001th century, has benefited from exemplary restoration since XNUMX. To protect the building from attacks by wood-eating insects, the timbers of the framework have been treated by a CTB-A+ certified company.
After discovering slight traces of woodworms, a wood-eating insect with larvae, on the existing framework, it was necessary to treat all wooden elements against wood-eating insects. To preserve the aesthetics of the framework, the specifications prohibited any welding or stripping.
The CTB-A+ certified company therefore proceeded to:
- dusting intended to facilitate the penetration of the biocide product into the treated areas,
- the injection under pressure of a self-penetrating biocide gel every 30 cm on the wood in contact with the masonry, at the level of the anchors and on the beams at 1/2 perimeter greater than 400 mm,
- the application of a biocidal product on all sides of the wood.
The restoration work on the Priory's timber frame lasted two years, including two weeks dedicated to treating the wood. Thanks to these operations, the treatment against wood-eating insects is guaranteed for 10 years.
