The Orléans-La Source swimming pool benefits from a new FOAMGLAS insulation technique

Characterized by a light roof with a steep slope and a wood and metal facade, the large pool of the Orléans-La Source swimming pool has been entirely insulated with FOAMGLAS® T3+ cellular glass.

The numerous disasters observed in the past demonstrate the extent to which construction constraints are significant in humid environments. FOAMGLAS® cellular glass, a waterproof and airtight insulator with a vapor barrier throughout, effectively insulates roofs and pool facades.

Thermally insulating the enclosure and roof of the new Orléans-La Source swimming pool was a real challenge. To respect the spirit of the first pool built by architect Olivier-Clément Cacoub in 1972, Arcos Architecture and GL Architecture designed a project with steeply sloped roofs and a timber-framed façade. The façade supports various cladding materials, including diamond-shaped polyester shells.

FOAMGLAS® thermal insulation for swimming pool roofs on steel decks benefits from exceptional experience gained over 50 years in Europe. FOAMGLAS® thermal insulation for external thermal insulation on wooden load-bearing elements in humid environments is a new technique, subject to specifications validated by the Alfa Contrôle Inspection Office. The Orléans-La Source swimming pool is the first to be insulated in this way. The insulating panels, glued to the wood, glued together, and mechanically attached to the wood with special PC F anchoring brackets, form a perfectly waterproof insulating layer that effectively protects the wood.
