Asbestos: a public health issue

"With 50 to 80 kg of asbestos per inhabitant, millions of square meters of asbestos cement roofs, the "asbestos risk"* is a real scourge that will have to be managed over the long term" and which the building trades face daily.

The legislation has taken this situation into account and requires professionals who face this risk to undergo training in asbestos risk prevention. The decree of 25 April 2005 and 2009 defines the terms of this training. It will be repealed by the decree of 22 December 2009, which will come into force on 1 June 2011.

• Personalized appropriation of the general asbestos operating procedure,

• Technical training courses whose content complies with all regulations in force and which are aimed at all personnel involved in asbestos activity (technical management, site management, operators),

• Preparation of all staff dedicated to asbestos activity at the company headquarters before the auditor's arrival (pre-qualification audit)

• At the end of the training, sending of the general asbestos operating procedure to the certifying body for the admissibility study.

• Provision of an asbestos kit for the headquarters audit. Employees were trained at ATIBAT headquarters with this kit, which includes all the equipment necessary for the successful completion of the work sites (extractor, UCF - heating and filtration unit -, 3-compartment airlock, etc.)
