The Leborgne nanovib formwork stripper receives the 2017 Design Observer Star
Leborgne® has once again won the 2017 Design Observer Star for its nanovib® long-range formwork stripper.
This distinction, awarded last year to the nanovib® pliers, rewards and reinforces the Leborgne® brand's approach: to design and produce tools that contribute to the prevention of workplace accidents and occupational diseases, particularly musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). The nanovib® range is a perfect illustration of this.
The tools in the Leborgne nanovib® range, such as the recently awarded long-reach formwork stripper, have all been designed with the aim of protecting the health and safety of construction professionals by reducing daily strain, vibrations, repetitive work characterised by the repetition of the same movement, noise and awkward postures.
The formwork removal project stems from Leborgne®'s observations of the slab formwork removal phase on a construction site requiring a hammer, a PIR (Plate-forme Individuuelle Roulante), a crowbar, and a plate holder to lower the plate. The idea came from a companion who didn't have a platform nearby and who had made a tool with a scaffolding tube, folded and crushed to work on the ground. The concept was there, and Leborgne® reworked it to improve its efficiency, add other features, and make it industrializable. The integration of design within R&D, from the genesis of the project, guarantees better continuity, from the pre-project to production.
The Leborgne nanovib® formwork stripper reduces the strain on the workplace and prevents the risk of accidents.
In line with new construction methods, the Leborgne nanovib® long-reach formwork stripper reduces the strain, as it allows, in particular, to work directly on the ground (without a platform), and in a comfortable posture (straight back) to dismantle the formwork panels. Since the operation is easier and faster than with a traditional tool, it results in increased productivity.
Several factors enhance this product: an ergonomic design, soft lines for the connection areas and taut lines for the working parts, with visible areas for each use.
Equipped with a 1,85 m handle, the Leborgne nanovib® long-reach formwork stripper allows you to work up to 3,35 m high without having to hold the tool handle above the rotator cuff (the main cause of shoulder MSDs). Unlike the traditional method (using formwork stripping pliers or a hammer directly under the slab), the Leborgne® long-reach formwork stripper does not require the operator to work with a bent back to detach the formwork slabs.
The long handle of the Leborgne nanovib® formwork stripper allows direct intervention on the ground without the need for an individual rolling platform. It thus prevents any risk of the operator falling. Thanks to the offset tip in relation to
with the handle, the user is not under the formwork plate when it falls.
The Design Observer 2017
The 2017 Design Stars were awarded to 31 projects from a shortlist of 137. Held at the Cité de la Mode et du Design, the ceremony provided an opportunity for various stakeholders in French design and the French industry to come together and discuss the importance of design as a source of differentiation and growth.
Created by APCI (Agence pour la Promotion de la Création Industrielle) in 1999, the Design Observer selects innovative products and services that have involved the intervention of a designer. It awards a label and rewards the most remarkable industrial/designer collaborations with "Stars." The products and services are exhibited each year at the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie museum in Paris and are the subject of traveling exhibitions shown in different countries.
