Sustainable development also exists in a shopping center

The city of Cholet will soon inaugurate its new shopping center, L'Autre Faubourg. Since its inception, this project has been committed to a 100% environmentally friendly approach: public transportation, the use of clean, self-produced energy, and selective sorting are just some of the measures implemented to achieve this goal.

The other Faubourg in Cholet: a benchmark in terms of accessibility and the environment

The other Faubourg goes green

L'Autre Faubourg in Cholet is resolutely taking a green turn. Virtuous in terms of accessibility, this new generation of retail parks designed by the developer Oréas is also virtuous in its environmental dimension. Retailers are already attracted by this 28 m² project, which will open its doors at the end of the month.

A green reference

Just a few weeks before its completion, the open-air shopping center L'Autre Faubourg in Cholet (49) is already a green benchmark with 20 m² of green space for a retail area of 000 m². Its accessibility by public transport (with two bus stops, a dedicated bus lane and a service adapted for people with reduced mobility), but also the emphasis placed on energy reduction, make it a project decidedly unlike any other.

In terms of energy, Oréas uses alternative production methods such as photovoltaic panels and a wind turbine, covering all the electricity consumption of the common areas of L'Autre Faubourg (reception point, parking lot lighting, 2 toilets).

In terms of water consumption, an underground storage system with a capacity of 400 m3 will cover the water needs for watering green spaces.

Selective waste sorting is already operational.

A human reference

If the ecological dimension is in the DNA of the Autre Faubourg, it is also through its initial vocation: to allow all consumers to access pleasure shopping. From its inception, this large-scale project has been based on accessibility for people with reduced mobility. The guidance system designed by the PVA (Philippe Vallecillo Architecture) firm in partnership with the Mobhilis company and the Accessibility and Autonomy Laboratory of

Paul Joly (member of the "disability" commission), will integrate the "ultimate" latest technological initiatives with a dedicated reception system, tactile orientation maps, audio terminals connected to reception, a podo-tactile guidance system to allow the consumer the greatest autonomy.

A commercial reference

This dual dimension and its location in the heart of a catchment area of 237 people have already attracted retailers, convinced that L'Autre Faubourg is the future shopping destination of the Cholet region. The 000 stores are already marketed 30% to sports, leisure, cultural, home and personal equipment brands. A restaurant area has been integrated into the complex. A parking lot with 100 spaces has been planned (a portion of which, reserved for people with disabilities, has been covered).

A reference for the future

Cholet's Other Suburb does not intend to remain a one-off experience. Given the success of this first initiative, the developer Oréas, building on this experience, hopes to replicate the model in other cities and thus build a regional network of a new generation of retail parks.
