The Millennium: an exemplary HQE project for Promat

The new retail and office complex, Le Millénaire, which opened its doors in May in Aubervilliers, is a gigantic achievement that reflects an active approach to sustainable development. Certified HQE (High Environmental Quality), this pilot project, designed by the architectural firm Antoine Grumbach & Associés, goes far beyond current thermal regulations. Design, technologies, alternative solutions, and materials are all part of this requirement for eco-construction.

Recognized for its expertise and the quality of its sprayable systems, pasty or fibrous, intended for thermal insulation, acoustic correction and passive fire protection, Promat was selected to ensure thermal insulation of the concrete slab separating the upper, heated commercial levels and the lower, unheated parking levels designed for 2 spaces.

A major project because more than 800 tonnes of PROMASPRAY®-T fibrous of Promat were projected over 46 m² in R-000. Beyond its thermal insulation performance, this fibrous coating, composed of slag wool, hydraulic and semi-synthetic binders as well as various additives, is incombustible and classified A1.

Fabien Valenti, from Bouygues Construction, responsible for structural work subcontractors, has selected two experienced applicators, the companies MTI and Entisobat, to share the application of the PROMASPRAY®-THe notes with satisfaction: "Whether during the very regular supervision of the implementation of the product or during the acceptance of the work or even the visit of the safety commission: no reservations were made about the quality of the work carried out by the two companies."

Hamza Taj, from MTI company, Technical Mastery of Insulation, testifies to its mission: “ It is a product that presents no difficulty in application and is easy to work with; it is very easy to handle in terms of finishes. The thicknesses are easy to measure.

In this case, it was necessary to ensure a final layer of 110 mm of PROMASPRAY®-T, deposited on a bonding primer. An operation carried out in two stages with a first pass of an average of 85 to 95 mm, then a second finishing pass to fill and balance the missing thickness differential.

« The lower thickness of this second layer allows the product to be worked with great precision, to compensate for the differential and to ensure perfect planimetry. We carry out regular checks using a system of gauges, but the applicator's skill is most often good and consistent with the required thickness." Thus,The application rates allowed MTI to cover 80 m²/day per team for the first pass and 120 m²/day for the second.

Aras Sandhu, from the Entisobat company, Building Insulation Company, has successfully completed the second phase of application: “For a project of this size, we were happy to work with this product, renowned for its consistent consumption and quality. It posed no problems for us during implementation. We took particular care with the second coat so that the finishes were neat and the thickness was respected. With two teams of 3 workers, we completed the work in less than 3 months at an application rate of 150m²/day.”

The projection machine, after its carding operation of the PROMASPRAY®-T in the fibrous state, conveys the dry product to the projection nozzle where, simultaneously during ejection, a water mist moistens the product so that it adheres to the support. The PROMASPRAY®-T has a thermal conductivity of 0,046 W/mK Its implementation falls under DTU 27.1.

Note that PROMASPRAY®-T - non-toxic, rot-proof, not attacked by rodents or parasites and of good resistance - is in compliance with the CE marking, according to ETAG 018, whose performance is validated by European reports. An environmental and health data sheet is also available on request.
