The OPPBTP CAP PREVENTION network: road risk prevention in construction companies from June 4 to 15

The Professional Construction Prevention Organization (OPPBTP), through its national CAP Prévention network, is bringing together prevention correspondents from construction companies from June 4 to 15, throughout France, on the subject of road risk.

Although the number of people killed on France's roads has fallen below 4, road accidents remain the second leading cause of workplace deaths in the construction industry after falls from heights.

All activities combined, the construction sector records a higher frequency of accidents (by 20%) and a rate of fatal road accidents of over 70% (CARSAT figures).

Progress has been made on vehicle equipment but safety regulations must be applied more than ever.

A NATIONAL REFLECTION WITH CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES

From June 4 to 15, 2012, regional meetings, organized by the OPPBTP near businesses, will bring together prevention correspondents who are members of the CAP Prevention network.
Road risk in the construction industry will be addressed from different angles:

Travel organization
Reduction of unnecessary travel
Vehicle purchasing and management
Vehicle fittings and equipment
Aggravating factors in the event of an accident

These meetings aim to inform companies about developments in prevention, develop the sharing of experiences between companies, and facilitate the exchange of technical information and practices to be implemented in the construction industry.

A national letter, produced from the highlights of each meeting, will then be sent to all prevention correspondents.

As a consulting partner for construction and public works professionals in accident prevention and improving working conditions, the OPPBTP's mission is to advise, train, and inform. The OPPBTP works closely with businesses through its 18 regional agencies, and its prevention engineers and advisors offer companies a wide range of practical tools for assessing occupational risks: training, information sessions, publications, national communication campaigns, and participation in major professional events.

The principle of the CAP Prévention network (Club Avenir Prévention)
Created in 2010, the network, which currently has 3500 members, brings together prevention correspondents from companies that have followed a Progress Approach with the OPPBTP. This Approach aims to improve working conditions and safeguard the health of their employees.
CAP Prévention organizes three thematic meetings per year, bringing together around fifteen prevention correspondents in meeting places close to businesses. In 3, the OPPBTP, through its regional agencies, organized 2011 meetings throughout France:
