THERMACTIF® ULTRA-RESPONSIVE HEATED FLOOR CHOSEN FOR THE EXCEPTIONAL CONSTRUCTION SITE OF THE LA BELLERIE ARCHERY RANGE (37)
An invisible solution, Thermactif® responded to the specific constraints of the site:
- heating without air circulation so as not to disturb the trajectories of arrow shots;
- high responsiveness to adapt to the wide fluctuations in attendance in the room, between weekdays and weekends, and to the natural contributions of the bay window on the entire north facade of the building;
- a discreet installation to fit into the refined space of the room.
Architects Bourgueil and Rouleau chose the most suitable solution for heating the space
Designed to host Olympic archery training, the new La Bellerie hall in Saint-Avertin (37) has been designed to allow athletes to practice in all conditions. Thanks to a system of glass doors across the entire north facade of the building, it is possible to practice shooting, with targets at 70 m, outdoors when the weather permits (from the inside out) and entirely indoors if necessary.
To comply with the strict specifications of such a structure, while offering a modern and pleasant building to practice in, the architectural firm Bourgueil and Rouleau (37) designed a square building, of 1,400 m², with a sawtooth roof (shed roof) and a fully glazed north facade, 3,5 m high and 33 m wide, which allows light to enter without glare for the shooters.
In the summer, the glass facade opens, partially or completely depending on the number of shooters present, and allows for outdoor practice. To power the site, a rooftop solar panel installation is integrated into the project. To date, 200 m² have already been installed; eventually, the entire roof (1 m²) could be covered and managed by the technical equipment provided for this purpose.
Scheduled for an inauguration in January 2021, the La Bellerie hall required an efficient and energy-efficient heating system given its volume. To meet the requirements of this exceptional installation, the BET Project Ingénierie (37) design office quickly turned to the Thermactif® solution for its ability to meet all the requirements of the venue, both technical (efficiency, responsiveness, consumption, air circulation, etc.) and aesthetic (no visible installation).
For Nicolas Rouleau, DPLG Architect in charge of the project: "The underfloor heating solution is perfectly suited to this type of building. We often look for this combination for sports halls, namely an adaptation of use, without air circulation, and aesthetics. For the shooting range at La Bellerie, we also wanted to respect the clean appearance of the ceiling, which extends over 37 m without intermediate support."
A combination of high-performance materials (refined tube and slab systems, THERMIO®+ anhydrite liquid screed with high thermal conductivity, etc.), Thermactif® ensures exceptional responsiveness to the entire installation: the temperature rise is 3 times faster than a conventional system.
