Organized by the AFCE (French Association of Certified Professional Engineers), the Trophy pitted high school classes and refrigeration training establishments against each other. Ultimately, the jury favored the project from the BTS class at Sassenage High School: a thermal study of a supermarket.

Roger Deschaux High School in Sassenage (Isère), winner of the 2010 Trophy for its “supermarket of the future”

Mr. Bernard GINDROZ, Deputy Director of the Sustainable Cities and Territories Department of ADEME, will present the 10 Trophy to the second-year BTS FEE students at the Sassenage high school at Interclima+elec on February 2010, for their study of the thermal comfort of a supermarket of the future.

The jury, composed of members of the various organizers, all professionals in refrigeration and air conditioning, salutes:

"Excellent work analyzing the thermal loads in both summer and winter from the refrigerated display units, combined with calculations of the maximum needs per zone of this supermarket." Several heating and air conditioning solutions were studied, all incorporating heat recovery from the condensing units of the refrigeration machines intended to supply the sales units with positive and negative cold.

Under the guidance of their professors, Marc Lefebvre and Alain Goupy, the 19 BTS students produced a 60-page report complete with plans and numerous calculation appendices. This report is part of the approach required by design offices that advise supermarket chains and determine the equipment to be installed within them.

Roger Deschaux High School will receive educational equipment in the field of refrigeration worth €1500 excluding VAT. Each of the winning students and teachers will also receive a one-year free subscription to La Revue Pratique du Froid and Clima+Confort, two magazines from the Pyc Edition group.

New in its theme, this competition aims to promote energy efficiency and environmental respect in mass distribution. It is aimed at all high school classes and training schools for refrigeration and air conditioning professions in France, i.e. more than 40 establishments. It proposes to study the positive refrigeration, negative refrigeration or air conditioning part of a supermarket with a sales area of 1300 m2 located in the Lyon region, for which a site plan and the positive and negative refrigeration powers are provided.

Four classes submitted applications for this competition, which could only be completed in the first quarter of 2009/2010. Launched over the entire school year, future editions will give teachers more time to incorporate them into their overall teaching approach.

Join us at Interclima+elec on February 10 at 18:30 p.m.

The Trophy will be presented to the winner at the Interclima+elec trade fair at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles on February 10 at 18:30 p.m., Hall 7.2 black plateau.

The awards ceremony will be followed by a cocktail reception.

This competition is organized by:
