Leborgne®, winner of the 2016 Design Observer Stars

Leborgne® has just received the 2016 Design Observer Star for its nanovib® pliers. This distinction recognizes an approach that has been central to Leborgne®'s product development and concerns for several years: prevention of risks ofwork accident and occupational diseases, in particular Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). Leborgne nanovib tools®, including pliers, have all been designed with the aim of protecting the health and safety of construction professionals by reducing daily efforts, vibrations, repetitive work characterized by the repetition of the same movement, noise and awkward postures.

The pliers available on the market are no longer suitable for modern construction methods or intensive use. Used daily on construction sites, this tool, originally designed to tie welded mesh, is now used for many other diverted tasks: cutting nails, flushing them, winding, striking, adjusting, etc. Innovative, the pliers-shears One-eyed nanovib® was developed in suitability with these new uses. It makes the task easier for companions and allows reduce the strain by improving ergonomics and reducing cutting effort.

Perfectly suited to construction work, the Leborgne nanovib® pliers-shears are a tool that, with the pliers part, allows you to twist, cut, and tie wire and, with the shears part, to cut soft wire up to 4 mm in diameter. The lateral shears' gear reduction system ensures a 50% reduction in effort compared to conventional pliers, thus preventing the risk of periarticular disorders caused by certain repetitive movements.

- Ergonomic, the Leborgne nanovib® pliers-shears have wider, curved handles to increase hand comfort and better distribute the pressure exerted,

- The profiled end of the branches allows you to wind binding wire,

- A flat striking surface on the head allows for hammering or adjusting,

- Finally, it has a shear. With conventional pliers, when the worker wants to cut nails or large diameter wire, the cutting force is very high and can damage the cutting edges, thus reducing the tool's lifespan. The Leborgne nanovib® shear-pliers will solve these two problems: they will facilitate cutting, reducing the effort required by 50% compared to traditional pliers, and thus preserve the main cutting edge.

Observeur du design 2016

The 2016 Design Stars were awarded to 32 projects from a shortlist of 156. Held at the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie, the ceremony provided an opportunity for various stakeholders in French design and French industry to come together and discuss the importance of design as a source of differentiation and growth.

Created by APCI (Agence pour la Promotion de la Création Industrielle) in 1999, the Design Observer selects innovative products and services that have involved the intervention of a designer. It awards a label and rewards the most remarkable industrial/designer collaborations with "Stars." The products and services are exhibited each year at the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie museum in Paris and are the subject of traveling exhibitions shown in different countries.
