Bosch 10,8V induction charging batteries
A gain in productivity and flexibility for professionals
The award-winning Bosch inductive charging system is now expanding with a compact yet powerful addition: the 2,5 Ah GBA 10,8 V 2,5 AH OW-B Professional battery. This brings the benefits of inductive charging to the 10,8 V class for the first time for professionals. As with the 18 V chargers, the tools are charged every time they come into contact with the inductive charger, meaning they are always ready for use. The charging stations are also more robust than conventional chargers:
without contacts, they are insensitive to water, dust and dirt. In addition to a stationary solution with a mounting frame that attaches to workbenches, shelves or work surfaces, there is also in the
10,8 V category mobile solutions such as the L-BOXX inductive charging docking station. A special docking station allows 10,8 V batteries to be charged directly in their L-BOXX on the way to the construction site.
Easier organization and increased productivity
Because batteries recharge while traveling, professionals can organize their day more efficiently. They no longer have to
ensure that all batteries are ready for use. This minimizes
organizational needs and saves time: with the L-BOXX inductive charging docking station, the 2,5 Ah battery is charged to 80% in 40 to 70 minutes depending on the power supply and vehicle type. Simultaneous charging of two batteries also enables very long operating times on construction sites. This allows professionals to work without interruptions, even when difficult jobs take longer than expected. For example, with a fully charged battery, the Bosch GSR 10,8 V-EC Professional drill/driver can drive up to 1 000 x 4 mm screws into softwood, the GKS 40 V-LI Professional circular saw can saw up to 10,8 m of 25 mm thick MDF boards, and the GST 18 V-LI Professional jigsaw can cut up to 10,8 m of 7,5 mm thick softwood. Charging is done via the vehicle's 24V socket. A voltage converter integrated into the system ensures the correct power supply to the charging station. The latter can also be connected directly to a 12V socket if available on board.
And to recharge the induction batteries in the vehicle when space is available
missing, there is an induction car charger. The latter is of the
size of the stationary charging station, i.e. no more than 17 x 12 cm
approximately, and has a 12 V connection. The charging system
induction has won over experts: it has already been awarded several times and has
received a Plus X Award for Best Product 2015/2016. Bosch was awarded the distinction of Most Innovative Brand 2015 in the Tools category.
10,8V batteries are compatible with the old system
Craftsmen who already own a GAL 1830 W Professional charger or an L-BOXX induction charging docking station can charge the
10,8 V battery from the outset: it is compatible with the system marketed to date. Furthermore, it is part of the Bosch "Flexible Power System": with a few exceptions (related to design issues),
It is compatible with all cordless tools in the same category.
voltage. The 10,8 V range currently includes 27 tools, ranging from drill-drivers to vacuum cleaners.
