Promat, a leader in the manufacture and marketing of high-performance spray-on boards and insulation, now offers ventilation and smoke extraction duct systems made with PROMATECT® sand-lime boards.

Promat, leader in the manufacture and marketing of high-performance sprayed boards and insulation, now offers you ventilation and smoke extraction duct systems made with silico-calcareous boards PROMATECT®-L500 tested according to European standards.

The purpose of smoke extraction is to extract, at the start of a fire, some of the smoke and combustion gases in order to keep the routes intended for public evacuation usable. This smoke extraction can also contribute to:

- limit the spread of the fire,

- facilitate emergency response.

It is carried out mechanically by sweeping the space that we want to keep usable by supplying fresh air (ventilation ducts) and evacuating fumes.*Source Official ERP Regulations.

Features of the duct system designed in PROMATECT®-L500

The plaques PROMATECT®-L500 are suitable for any construction of vertical or horizontal ducts, tapping into vertical or horizontal ducts, offsets, against slabs or walls, installation of smoke extraction shutters, surface-mounted or in trailing position.

Concerning the cold sealing class, tests were carried out according to the draft European standards (standard NF/EN 1507 - October 1998 version) and the conduits made in PROMATECT®-L500 meet the most stringent requirements (class C).

The plaques PROMATECT®-L500 are able to withstand seismic stresses and vibrations experienced by certain buildings such as airports, underground car parks, etc.

In addition to fire protection, in order to limit the propagation of airborne noise and provide acoustic comfort, Promat offers different lining solutions (plasterboard and glass wool).

 Implementation of the platesPROMATECT®-L500

The plaques PROMATECT®-L500 can be installed in a vertical or horizontal mounting.

In a vertical construction, the smoke extraction and ventilation ducts are self-supporting up to 10 meters high without load recovery. The horizontal smoke extraction ducts are supported by a system combining threaded rods and angle irons which must be protected from fire by a thickness of PROMATECT®-L500 from a section of 1 x 250 mm. The horizontal ventilation ducts are also supported by a system of threaded rods and angles (unprotected) which must be sized according to the section of the duct.

The plates are assembled at the corners of the conduits, using wood screws or resin staples.

A joint offset of 600 mm must be respected between 2 adjoining faces.

The advantages of the duct system in PROMATECT®-L500

- conduits tested according to European standards EN1366-1 and 1366-8,

- identical assembly for ventilation and smoke extraction ducts,

- single-layer system without joint cover,

- unprotected hangers for all ventilation ducts and smoke extraction ducts with a section less than 1 x 250 mm,

- treatment of joints by PROMACOL®-S or PROMACOL®-K84/500,

-       section jusqu’à2500x1500mmpourlesconduitsdeventilationet2250x1 125mmpourlesconduitsdedésenfumage,

- classificationo↔i for all ventilation ducts (mandatory according to the decree of March 22, 2004 amended),

- classification S (smoke tightness for all ventilation and smoke extraction ducts,

- classification C (the most demanding) for cold sealing,

- surface roughness factor practically identical to that of steel conduits,

- can be used in areas with high humidity and outdoors under shelter (areas not subject to wind stress).

The advantages of the PROMATECT®-L500 board are its lightness, its fire resistance performance (EI30 to 180), its CE marking, its mechanical resistance, its Environmental and Health Declaration Sheet available on request and on the INIES database.
