In 2009, SPIE won the Société Générale tender for the replacement of the hydraulic circuit equipment for the production and distribution of cold in one of its buildings located in Val-de-Fontenay (Val-de-Marne).

In order to perfectly meet the comfort and energy performance requirements expressed by Société Générale, SPIE chose to equip the cooling network with pumps from Salmson, a specialist unanimously recognized for the reliability, performance and quality of its solutions and services.


What made the difference: the speed variation and a centralized technical management system (CMS), natively integrated into the selected Salmson pumps, which allow, among other things, to adjust the consumption of the pumps according to the needs of the building.


The Périval building is composed of four buildings with a unit area of approximately 4 m6.250, each comprising eight floors. The Périval building houses part of Société Générale's central services, i.e., nearly 2 employees, as well as IT facilities, for which SPIE had to ensure continuity of service throughout the construction phase. In order to meet environmental, energy-saving, and occupant comfort requirements, the hydraulic pumps dedicated to the distribution and production of cold, for ventilation and air conditioning, were rigorously selected with the best efficiency.

In total, nearly 28 Salmson variable speed pumps (SIE or DIE pumps) were installed in the 4 buildings: per building, 3 SIE pumps are installed on the primary EG (Chilled Water) loop to irrigate the two 450 kW GF (Cold Units), 1 DIE pump on the secondary EG distribution, for the EG – CTA (Chilled Water – Air Handling Unit) circuit, 1 DIE pump for the comfort circuit and finally 2 SIE pumps for the IT network to ensure perfect continuity of service on this network in the event of maintenance on one of the pumps.

The current Salmson pump installation has a cooling capacity of 3,6 MW and a maximum electrical power of 134 kW. The water temperature of the installation is 07°C on the outlet and 12°C on the return, except for the comfort network, where a shift has been made to 14°C / 18°C to limit condensation in the terminal equipment.

Controlled by a GTC (Centralized Technical Management) solution, Salmson pumps adapt to the needs of the installation and allow perfect control of energy consumption, temperature and chilled water production in the building. The automatic control system takes over to meet the needs of the building's users: consumption results are measured and adjusted in real time to ensure that the building only produces the consumption it needs at the best cost.

In operation for 10 months, the Salmson pumps have enabled an estimated 15% gain in energy consumption compared to the old pumps installed.
Combining performance and energy management, Salmson pumps are part of a responsible approach and contribute to the preservation of the environment.
