Global ACO drainage solutions equip the IKEA store and car park in Mulhouse
Since July 2015 and the opening of the 31st IKEA store, the people of Mulhouse have embraced Scandinavian fashion for their home furnishings. This new building of approximately 25 m², labeled "very high environmental quality", is
The IKEA self-service restaurant under ACO management.
A specialist in home improvement, IKEA's expertise is reflected in the layout of its
stores but also its restaurants, in which many customers come to satisfy their
taste buds by tasting typical and unusual Swedish specialties.
Aware that food safety requires essential hygiene and cleanliness measures in
food preparation and processing workshops, IKEA called upon the unique skills
ACO's expertise in drainage, equipping its restaurant with ACO Pipe. Due to their superior technical characteristics, they are particularly suitable for kitchens.
The system, made of stainless steel, is completely insensitive to grease and withstands without damage
hot water. In addition, ACO Pipe meets the strictest hygiene requirements to prevent any
food contamination.
Connected at several collection points to gutters and siphons, 350 meters of ACO Pipe pipes
of diameters 50, 75, 110 and 125, allow the rapid evacuation of loaded wastewater and avoid
thus the persistent bad odors.
The lightness of the pipes makes them much easier to install. The interlocking system guarantees a
quick assembly. Integrated, double-lip EPDM (Ethylene, Propylene, Diene, Monomer) seals
ensure perfect sealing of each element and great reliability over time.
In short, ACO Pipe is a high-tech, economical system that offers maximum performance.
hygienic to ensure long-lasting clean surfaces.
Complementary solutions for dry parking
Concerned about the quality of its service to its customers, the brand also wanted to provide
special attention to the exterior design of its store. A landscaped parking lot with 800 spaces
was built to accommodate the many visitors, with the imperative of ensuring the safety of pedestrians
and motorists by avoiding stagnant water during rainy weather.
The site managers decided to use the flow regulating channel, with a 2x8 slot
mm, ACO Qmax PMR, made of anti-corrosion cast iron. Renowned for its optimal drainage capacity for large areas, ACO Qmax also allows significant storage of peak flows during a storm.
Before laying the 2-meter-long elements, a “basin” was dug and two parallel lines
500 meters were then placed at the bottom. The patented arch system is made up of 93 gutters
slotted circulars, with diameters of 225 and 350, which respectively provide water retention of 40 and 96
liters per linear meter and 58 ovoid gutters, 550 mm in diameter for a capacity of 153 liters
per linear meter.
Only a few days will have been enough for a cascade mounting of the system. Thanks to the simple male / female connection, the elements fit into each other. Light and robust, ACO Qmax displays a load resistance of class D400, ideal for supporting the frequent and intense passage of several thousands of vehicles.
In addition to the quality and reliability of its solutions, the complementarity of the ACO offer was a determining factor which enabled it to respond very precisely to the various problems of this site by also delivering a homogeneous range of systems among which:
- 1200 meters of ACO Kerbdrain monolithic kerb gutters made of polymer concrete.
Various elements, 50 and 100 cm long, were supplied to adapt to the different configurations encountered: straight elements for peripheral drainage along the parking lot sidewalks; externally curved elements around the central roundabout; and finally boat elements to facilitate the passage of trolleys in the loading area intended for individuals.
The multiple side entrances, one every 100 meters, effectively absorb rainwater and
thus ensure the comfort of pedestrians.
- The implementation of approximately 100 meters of ACO Monoblock monolithic gutters and drains
visit. The model with integrated PMR coverage of class D400 was installed around the store
and its version without PMR cover equips road crossings at stops
buses and along the unloading docks for delivery trucks.
The V-shaped polymer concrete profile of ACO Monoblock channels promotes the “self-cleaning” effect
and significantly increases the flow rate. In addition, they benefit from increased longevity thanks to
to their robust and virtually indestructible construction. Exceptional qualities, which make these gutters
an absolute benchmark in terms of drainage, to which are added total waterproofing and resistance
to all common chemical agents, an additional guarantee against pollution risks.
- Finally, 10 meters of ACO Multidrain 150 gutters, 15 cm wide and 21 cm high with slope
integrated 0,5%, class D400, in the unloading area. Equipped with a walkway grid in
20 mm slotted cast iron, compliant with accessibility standards, ACO Multidrain channels fit
perfectly into the surface of the parking lot floor covering.
The IKEA construction site reflects the full extent of ACO's expertise, which covers both water management
rainwater from outdoor developments, as well as hygienic drainage inside buildings. With ACO,
project managers have the assurance of dealing hand in hand with a single contact, capable of
offer them a range of global solutions adapted to each problem.
