The Villepinte Exhibition Park extension entrusted to Soprema

Summary for decision-makers

The expansion of the Villepinte Exhibition Center, in collaboration with Soprema, emphasizes an HQE® approach. With a green roof protection, the project promises high-quality thermal and acoustic insulation. This innovative ecological initiative heralds future construction standards.

Environmental innovation takes a new turn with the extension of the Villepinte Exhibition Center, designed by Soprema.

Innovation in the service of the environment

Looking to expand its space, the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center has adopted a unique environmental approach. The choice fell on a High Environmental Quality (HQE®) project, a first in France.

Why this choice ?

The importance given to ecology and sustainable development in our contemporary society made such an initiative necessary for an exhibition center of this scale.

What is Soprema’s role in this project?

Soprema, an expert in building envelopes for over a century, was tasked with providing a sustainable solution. The company proposed a green roof covering, providing optimal acoustic and thermal insulation. An impressive 15 m² of land is now covered in tundra vegetation, which will evolve with the seasons.

When was this initiative implemented?

The work, currently in its final phase, is expected to be completed in July, with a planned opening to the public in the third quarter of 2010.

The project's architecture: a blend of technology and nature

An innovative building

The park's new Hall 7, spanning 36 m², represents an architectural and ecological feat. The building's envelope was designed to ensure acoustic comfort for both future users and to minimize noise impact on the surrounding area.

Eco-responsible technical choices

12 m² of triple-skin cladding, finished in aluminum with touches of stainless steel, covers the building's facades. The roof is distinguished by its green acoustic complex. This includes a steel structure, rock wool insulation, and a two-layer bituminous waterproofing system, designed to accommodate the vegetation.

The benefits of green roofs

In addition to its aesthetic appeal, this green roof helps regulate rainwater drainage. It is estimated that this innovation will retain up to 3 cubic meters of water per year, reducing the burden on the local water network.

The key players in this project

Behind this ambitious project are numerous stakeholders, ranging from the landowner, the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to various technical partners. Not to mention SOPREMA ENTREPRISES, a key player whose expertise and longevity in the waterproofing sector were essential assets in the realization of this project.

Focus on SOPREMA ENTREPRISES

Founded in 1908, SOPREMA ENTREPRISES is a pillar of waterproofing for buildings. With over a century of experience, the company works on a variety of structures, combining traditional and innovative techniques. With 30 agencies in France, 11 subsidiaries, and over 2 employees, it manages more than 000 construction sites per year, ranging from new builds to renovations.

Synthesis

The expansion of the Villepinte Exhibition Center, orchestrated by Soprema, is an architectural, environmental, and technological feat. It demonstrates that the future of construction lies in a combination of innovation, aesthetics, and respect for the environment.
