The Drouot Richelieu Auction House has been placed under fire protection thanks to partitions* with Promat®-SYSTEMGLAS fire-resistant glazing for 1 hours

Dedicated to public auctions, the Hôtel des Ventes Drouot Richelieu is the first site in France to have selected the combination of Promat-SYSTEMGLAS EI 90 glazing andpartition Type

EMV HORIZON due to the perfect outcome of a system combining aesthetic qualities and safety features.

The aim was to meet rigorous specifications in terms of fire risk and demanding aesthetics, in order to create a fire separation lasting 1 hours between the public spaces and the administrative services of the site.

Thus, to meet a demanding specification both technically and aesthetically, the architectural agency Du RIVAU & Associés responsible for the redevelopment of the premises, chose the system combining the Promat®-SYSTEMGLAS glazingEI 90 (according to European report Efectis 07-A-362) and the process of bulkhead EMV HORIZON (according to P-.V Efectis 10-A-344)from the BOULLET Workshops to separate the two spaces, public and private, of the Drouot Richelieu Auction House. The execution was entrusted to Ateliers BOULLET, a leading specialist in the implementation of fire-resistant partitions and joinery.

This unprecedented operation consisted of ensuring regulatory fire insulation, while maintaining visibility from the R+2 corridor to the central space of the R+1. Made entirely to measure, the 42 mm thick bay window consists of a series of 1,40 x 1,40 meter panes over a length of approximately 15 meters. It is installed on an existing sill requiring no joint cover, no frame, no upright, no intermediate crosspiece, a major originality of the Promat®-SYSTEMGLAS which is assembled using a specific silicone. This particularity contributes to the aesthetic quality due to the perfectly transparent partition rendering.

 Only a thin 80 mm peripheral profile in powder-coated aluminum holds the whole thing together. It encases and holds the entire glass partition, promoting maximum daylight, ideally creating a true architectural perspective.

"There is simply the requirement for perfect alignment of the different volumes of glass and the creation of a 5 mm vertical joint space between each of the volumes, with bevelled edges to accommodate the silicone seal, and to give a perfect aesthetic finish without excess thickness." continues Cyrille SCHROERS.

Technical characteristics of Promat®SYSTEMGLAS EI glasses 90

Promat®-SYSTEMGLAS EI 90 holds a European Efectis 07-A-362 P-V and combines the following performances: the combined contribution of optimal fire safety and its strong contribution to the aesthetics of a construction.

- The 42 mm laminated glazing consists of a series of floats which enclose intumescent interlayers and PVB films.

- This film can be colored or even accommodate a transparent photographic decoration. The glazing can also receive an external surface treatment, in screen printing or engraving, which infinitely extends the possibilities of decorative enrichment of the Promat®-SYSTEMGLAS and its perfect integration in the most diverse places.

- The vertical silicone joints are translucent and allow the glazing to fully reflect the geography of a place.

- The dimensions of the glazing go up to 2,70 meters high and 1,40 meters wide.

- A wide choice of PROMATECT ® -H frames in wood or metal allows the glass partitions to be fixed to the desired measurements, with a concern for aesthetic finish and particularly sought-after personalization.

- Finally, Promat®-SYSTEMGLAS EI 90 can be exposed to UV rays and contributes to thermal and acoustic insulation.

Promat®-SYSTEMGLAS is also available with a fire resistance of 30 and 60 minutes.

The installation of Promat®-SYSTEMGLAS EI 90 at the Hôtel des Ventes Drouot-Richelieu proves that, as part of a quality redevelopment, the most recent construction and preventive technologies can be perfectly integrated into an existing building while meeting architectural requirements.
