At the Leonard Blavatnik Institute of Political Science, future politicians study safely thanks to Pyroguard fire-resistant glass
Pyroguard fire-resistant glass keeps future politicians safe at the Leonard Blavatnik Institute of Political Science
Inaugurated in 2016, the Léonard Blavatnik Institute of Political Science is the result of the client's desire, which can be summed up in three words: transparency, openness, and communication. Architects Herzog & de Meuron were able to meet these requirements while ensuring safety thanks to Pyroguard fire-resistant glazing solutions.
This new building showcases light with its clear glass partitions. To maintain this transparency and comply with fire regulations for Public Buildings, the architects chose Pyroguard T EI30/24-2 SWS fire-resistant glazing combined with a laminated acoustic backing.
Pyroguard fire-resistant glass allows for optimal light transmission and reduces noise pollution caused by the movement of large numbers of students and sometimes heated political discussions. Composed of three layers of tempered safety glass and two transparent intumescent gel chambers, it also prevents the passage of flames and hot gases and also insulates against heat for 30 minutes. This high level of performance guarantees safe evacuation of people.
