Biofib'duo insulation obtains ACERMI certification
Since last March, CAVAC Biomatériaux's Biofib'duo insulation has obtained ACERMI (Association for the Certification of Insulating Materials) certification. This certification demonstrates the manufacturer's commitment to implementing a flawless quality system.
Batipôle Editorial
The leading product in the BIOFIB'isolation range, BIOFIB'duo insulation, a mix of hemp and flax fibers, has already benefited from a CSTB opinion for several months. Today, CAVAC Biomatériaux reaches a new milestone with the obtaining of ACERMI certification (No. 11/130/696) for its ecological product (thicknesses from 45 to 200 mm) at the beginning of March. BIOFIB'duo is among the very first "biosourced" insulation products to benefit from this ACERMI certification, a real key to being able to respond to calls for tender for "public" construction sites and BBC constructions.
The completion of this long certification process demonstrates the quality and effectiveness of CAVAC Biomaterials products as well as the industrial rigor of its sector.
FROM FIELD TO SITE, A COMPLETE ECOLOGICAL SECTOR
As the development of ecological and/or renewable products in our daily lives shows, consumers are increasingly sensitive to environmental aspects and the "ecological footprint" of products. When it comes to natural insulation, CAVAC Biomaterials clearly displays its difference by claiming mastery of a truly complete sector "from field to construction site"Backed by a Vendée agro-industrial cooperative group, CAVAC Biomatériaux takes care of all the stages, from hemp cultivation carried out by farmers in its territory, to the industrial quality production of BIOFIB' insulation.
A unique industrial approach in Europe
CAVAC Biomaterials is the first in Europe to ensure the defibering of straws and the coating of fibers on the same site of production in Vendée. Hemp and flax are grown within a 100 km radius of the processing site, thus avoiding numerous transport costs and associated CO2 emissions. This mastery of cultivation and processing represents a definite industrial advantage, both in terms of consistency and batch traceability (French origin).
In addition, CAVAC Biomaterials continues its objective of completely ecological production. with zero waste : all the co-products from defibering (hemp shives, flax shives, fines) are used in other outlets (building coatings, bedding, animal feed, etc.). The BIOFIB' insulation range therefore displays a very favorable carbon footprint, by participating "doubly" in energy savings and protecting the planet.
Indeed, the ecological virtues of hemp are widely recognized: hemp does not require any pesticides for its cultivation, nor irrigation; while promoting biodiversity (crop rotation, soil regeneration). Finally, like all plants, hemp and flax straw assimilate a large quantity of CO2 during their growth.
An exemplary ecological process
1 Hemp straws fix CO2 (via photosynthesis) during growth, contributing to a very low carbon impact.
2 The plant fibers used come from hemp, produced in Vendée near the industrial site (100 km radius), resulting in low CO2 emissions for transport to the factory.
3 The two stages "defibrating" and "coating" are carried out on a single site: a first in Europe.
4 After defibering, the fibers are transformed into insulating panels but without any waste because all the co-products (hemp shives, dust) are used in other outlets (building coatings, litter, etc.).
5 The industrial coating process is fully automated, with systematic quality control of the finished products (weight, thickness and density), resulting in guaranteed quality and performance (CSTB technical opinion, ACERMI certificate No. 11/130/696) for BIOFIB' insulation.
6 Delivery is carried out via an optimized logistics circuit which also reduces transport costs and associated pollution.
7 Given its thermal performance, the implementation of BIOFIB' insulation contributes to a excellent insulation of the habitat, a source of energy savings.
