The development of new products and advanced technologies is an integral part of MEWA's corporate philosophy. The textile service provider constantly optimizes the technology of its manufacturing processes to conserve resources. The same applies to the development of textiles, such as workwear and protective clothing. To this end, the industry leader collaborates closely with experts in research, teaching, and learning.

Safe, durable and environmentally friendly workwear

An internal development department dedicated to work and protective clothing

At MEWA, the development of textiles, such as workwear and occupational textiles, is always geared towards quality and sustainability. These two points are the best way to conserve resources. To achieve this goal, MEWA uses exclusively high-quality materials that meet the requirements of both the working environment and those of demanding industrial cleaning. New collections are designed in its own workwear and protective clothing development department. Existing garments are also improved there in collaboration with fabric manufacturers and research institutes. The strength and durability of the workwear are verified through intensive tests, conducted at the in-house technical center and at certified institutes. The result: improved, durable fabrics with additional protective functions, such as antistatic, welder protection, or protection against chemical agents.

Optimized testing methods at the internal technical center

Before a new workwear collection is launched, the fabric is first checked at MEWA's technical center in Wiesbaden. It is washed at least thirty times, prepared, and tested for tear and abrasion resistance, as well as color fastness. The customer can be sure that all protection standards are met and that the clothing is optimally adapted to the maintenance processes. Our methods comply with the requirements of current international ISO standards. ", explains Christoph Sporrer, Technical Director of MEWA France.

A trend towards eco-friendly and sustainable workwear

In institutions and companies, sustainability has become an important criterion when choosing workwear. With this in mind, certified textile providers offer an environmentally friendly and resource-conserving rental service. MEWA is going one step further. The textile service provider recently developed its first collection made from recycled materials. The "Peak" workwear offers outstanding functional properties and the look of fashionable outdoor wear. The polyester yarns used come exclusively from recycled PET water bottles, supplemented by a proportion of organic cotton. Overall, MEWA PEAK consists of around 75% sustainable, resource-conserving materials. However, the quality of the recycled materials remains a major challenge in sustainable textile service. Robustness is particularly essential for workwear.
