NANOVIB® LEBORGNE: An innovative concept in the prevention of MSDs
In France, MSDs are the leading cause of recognition as an occupational disease.
In the construction industry, nearly 9 out of 10 occupational illnesses resulting in lost time are MSDs. And MSDs are increasing by 20% each year.
Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are primarily located in the shoulders, wrists, elbows, knees, and back. Over time, the high stress on the joints leads to disabilities and reduced work performance. These conditions can go from being annoying to painful, causing the inability to perform a movement, and even leading to disability at work.
The number of days lost due to MSDs, the unrealized turnover associated with these lost jobs, the compensation for MSD victims covered by company contributions... all factors which clearly demonstrate that Reducing MSDs is a major human challenge for the well-being and health of users, and an economic challenge for businesses.
A benchmark in the market in terms of quality, functionality, safety, ergonomics and design, LEBORGNE is committed alongside the OPPBTP and IRIS-ST* to a process of preventing MSDs. The LEBORGNE design office, in partnership with major construction companies, local craftspeople, and leading institutes in France, focused on developing a technical solution to reduce vibrations, the main cause of MSDs associated with hammer use. This project, which required nearly five years of research, gave rise to the innovative NANOVIB® concept.
A new generation of hammers (formworker - MOBiste carpenter - 1-claw carpenter) designed for construction professionals, the NANOVIB® provides a highly effective response to a fundamental challenge in the sector: MSDs, the leading cause of occupational illnesses in France.
NANOVIB®: More safety, less vibration
Unlike power tools, there are no standardized vibration measurement tests for hammers. LEBORGNE has therefore developed a specific test, with the advice of independent specialists, and carried out vibration measurements in accordance with ISO 5349-1. According to Directive 2002/44/EC of 25 June 2002, when a tool exceeds a Vibration Exposure Limit Value (VEL) of 2,5 m/s2, the employer must implement protective measures for the worker: either reduce the daily usage time of a product, or provide PPE** that reduces vibration. The LEBORGNE NANOVIB® hammer obtains an ELV of less than 2,5 m/s2, thus authorizing the worker to use the NANOVIB® hammer for an entire working day (based on 2 blows per day). Comparative tests show that the LEBORGNE NANOVIB® hammer absorbs twice as much vibration as hammers in the same category.
The NANOVIB® handle benefits from numerous advantages in terms of:
SECURITY
• By absorbing vibrations, it significantly reduces the risk of MSDs.
• Thanks to rounded claws and striking surface angles, it prevents the risk of cuts.
• The flush socket fitting protects the end of the handle against false blows.
RESISTANCE
• Made of hardened steel, the handle offers high resistance to false blows.
• Crimping fitting provides it with resistance 4,5 times greater than the NF ISO 15601 standard.
ERGONOMY
• Covered with a tri-material handle ergonomic anti-slip, the handle ensures excellent grip.
• Thanks to the flared lower part of the handle “anti-escape”, the hammer remains firmly in hand.
DESIGN
• With an exclusive design entirely centered on the user, it has been awarded by the 2012 Design Observer Label.
MORE PRODUCT
• Equipped with a nail magnet, it allows the user to point with one hand, without holding the nail.
• With side striking surfaces, it allows nailing in tight spaces.
• Sharp, hardened top edges allow it to scrape off concrete residue.
• The hard polymer handle end allows to adjust the materials without damaging them.
