New: Terraconfort - Owens Corning FOAMGLAS and Triflex combine their expertise to offer a complete insulation and waterproofing solution for accessible terraces
Summary for decision-makers
Terraconfort: a durable waterproofing solution for accessible terraces
Terraconfort, developed by Owens Corning FOAMGLAS and Triflex, is an innovative system combining cellular glass thermal insulation with an integrated slope and a liquid waterproofing membrane, allowing direct traffic. Suitable for new construction and renovations, it simplifies maintenance and reduces operating costs. Certified for its fire and wind resistance, Terraconfort guarantees durability, mechanical strength, and energy efficiency for the optimal protection and maintenance of pedestrian-accessible terraces.
Terraces accessible to pedestrians are subject to recurring constraints: risks of infiltration, water stagnation, complexity of maintenance and upkeep operations… While waterproofing and optimal rainwater drainage are major issues, insulation also plays an essential role in the overall performance and durability of the structure.
Terraconfort: a sustainable solution that simplifies access to and maintenance of accessible terraces
To address these challenges, Owens Corning FOAMGLAS and Triflex have combined their expertise to develop a comprehensive and sustainable solution: Terraconfort. This innovative concept combines FOAMGLAS® thermal insulation with an integrated slope and a Triflex liquid waterproofing system, applied cold and directly walkable.
Suitable for new construction and renovation projects, Terraconfort provides an optimal response to the expectations of project owners, architects and design offices in terms of reliability, performance over time and ease of maintenance.
Regular use of pedestrian-accessible terraces can cause various problems, with direct consequences for building owners and managers. Premature aging, faulty waterproofing, or a lack of maintenance can lead to significant and costly repairs.
The result of a collaboration between Owens Corning FOAMGLAS and Triflex, Terraconfort is an innovative and reliable technical solution designed to improve the durability and performance of accessible terraces.
The system leverages the expertise of two industry leaders to offer a comprehensive and sustainable solution:
- FOAMGLAS® T3+ cellular glass thermal insulation, with integrated slope in the insulation layer (1,5%*),
- A Triflex liquid sealing system (LSS) High-performance BTS-P,
- A cold application, directly circulable.
Terraconfort guarantees simplified maintenance and contributes to reducing long-term operating costs.
Terraconfort: multiple advantages
The Terraconfort system is suitable for both new constructions and renovation projects carried out on load-bearing masonry elements.
Composed of FOAMGLAS® T3+ panels, the FOAMGLAS® TAPERED sloped insulation systemApplied cold, this product addresses two essential aspects of a construction or renovation project for an accessible terrace: thermal insulation and water drainage towards the rainwater outlets. The integrated slope within the insulation layer (1,5%*) ensures optimal rainwater runoff. Its high compressive strength also prevents any deformation.
The Triflex reinforced liquid waterproofing system (LWS), applied cold, is directly accessible after installation and easily repaired if necessary. Available in a wide range of finishes and RAL colors, it adapts to all aesthetic requirements. Cleaning and maintenance are simple.
Other slope percentages are available upon request.
A certified and proven solution
In addition to an ETN validated by a Control Office, Terraconfort has undergone wind and fire resistance tests, carried out by the Scientific and Technical Center for Building (CSTB). The system has excellent resistance to fire propagation, certified B ROOF (t3), as well as wind resistance validated up to 6,000 kPa (CSTB report no. RA24-0215).
