New relay manufacturing line

 Hager Group is continuing its investments in the Obernai industrial site (Bas-Rhin), dedicated to the production of modular equipment for the protection of electrical installations and people (circuit breakers and differential switches).

A new relay manufacturing line is currently under construction to meet customer needs. This unique site within the group will be commissioned by the end of 2021.

"Our European residential and commercial customers appreciate our products and are in particular in constant demand for residual current devices. Relays are an essential component. This is why we want to double our relay production capacity and are building a new line in Obernai. This investment should allow us to better serve our customers," explains Jacky Metzger, Vice President of Electro Mechanical Factories.

Work began in the summer of 2019. Today, the steel structure and framework are installed. With a footprint of 1m², the new building will house both the new production line and offices. It will be located in the extension of the building housing the current relay line, which gives
on the D501, opposite the Kronenbourg factory.

Industry 4.0 at the service of product quality
Firmly geared towards Industry 4.0, notably thanks to the acquisition of new robots, the new production line will benefit from the latest innovations in equipment connectivity, information processing and control of data and industrial processes. Thanks to this concentration of technology, the future relays that will come out of this new line will, for example, be immune to aggressive environments, such as
dust and chlorine.

An investment to support the company's growth
With a total amount of 28 million euros, this productive investment covers the construction of the future building, but also and above all the acquisition of new machine tools and new equipment.

QWhat is a relay?
The relay is the heart of any residual current device. As an actuator, it triggers the residual current device in the event of a current leakage to earth. The residual current device thus protects people from the dangers of electric current.
