New ACO Q-Brake Vortex Flow Limiter Solution

ACO presents ACO Q-Brake, its new vortex flow limiter in AISI 304 stainless steel, designed for the regulation of rainwater, whether discharged to receiving waters or to sewers.

The design of the flow limiter is based on the fluid mechanics principle of an amplified vortex to limit the flow without moving elements.

ACO Q-Brake uses the upstream water column and drains to create a vortex inside this device.

The ACO Q-Brake flow limiter facilitates flow even with low backwater heights. Flow controlled by a vortex-type solution can achieve up to 4 times greater flow than traditional nozzle-type systems.

ACO Q-Brake is installed with a built-in bypass valve that can be opened in the event of a blockage to allow water to flow. A stainless steel cable attached to the bypass valve is used to operate the valve. The upstream system can drain completely when the water level is below the flow restrictor orifice.

ACO Q-Brake is available for flow rates from 1 to over 50 l/s. This solution is suitable for cylindrical or rectangular manholes.
