OPTIL PLUS SUCCESSFULLY PASSES THE NATUREPLUS REQUIREMENT TESTS

A year ago, KEIM's OPTIL was the first interior paint to be rated "A+" under the decorative products labeling project. Today, KEIM goes further and meets the strictest requirements by obtaining the German Natureplus label. KEIM OPTIL is changing its name to KEIM OPTIL PLUS. To demonstrate OPTIL's excellent environmental qualities, KEIM began a process in 2009 to assess VOC and formaldehyde emissions according to the AFSSET protocol. Led by the CSTB, the tests were conducted in a test chamber. VOC and formaldehyde samples were pumped after 1 day, 3 days, and 28 days.

Compliant with the requirements of the Natureplus label, the emissions of the sum of total VOCs (TVOCs) from OPTIL PLUS are up to 15 times lower than the reference limit values.

To obtain the Natureplus label, OPTIL PLUS mineral paint had to meet the basic criteria for its product category. Among the key points to be met: limiting harmful emissions in indoor spaces, such as organic and inorganic substances, odors, radioactivity, and dust or fibers. Not only must the components meet the basic Natureplus criteria, but they must also be sourced in an environmentally friendly manner.

OPTIL PLUS MEETS ALL YOUR DECORATIVE DESIRES FOR A HEALTHY INTERIOR
OPTIL PLUS is intended for interior decoration work and is available in more than 300 shades from the color chart GERMAN. Made from mineral pigments based on a double potassium silicate/silica sol binder, OPTIL PLUS ensures faithful color retention, even for the most vivid colors.

A matte mineral interior finish paint, it is ready to use and washable. Thanks to its exceptional environmental properties, OPTIL PLUS can be used in all residential and commercial buildings and is particularly suitable for collective premises such as nurseries, hospitals, schools, etc.

Applicable on lime plasters, cements, unpainted concrete, unpainted plaster plasters, plasterboard or old paints, OPTIL PLUS retains all the properties of its mineral origin. In addition, the high pH of OPTIL PLUS (around 12) greatly limits the appearance of molds which develop more easily in slightly acidic environments (pH of 5 to 7).

In addition, OPTIL PLUS is establishing itself as the leading interior paint:
  • complies with the 2009 protocol of the French Agency for Environmental and Occupational Health Safety (AFSSET),
  • classified as "A+" for its VOC emissions into indoor air, well before the regulatory obligation of 2012,
  • to have successfully passed health assessment tests to certify the total absence of Carcinogenic, Mutagenic or Reprotoxic (CMR) substances of category 1 or 2.
Completely odorless, OPTIL PLUS allows for rapid reintegration into the premises. Its water vapor permeability ensures natural regulation of the humidity level in the premises and allows for renovation without stripping, by simply covering. Finally, its good bond with the substrate ensures impeccable durability over time.

NATUREPLUS REWARDS SUSTAINABLE BUILDING PRODUCTS
Created in 2001, the independent German label Natureplus is now recognized internationally. It certifies sustainable and healthy construction products, such as paints, stains, oils, waxes, etc. Having become a benchmark in the field in Europe, this ecological quality label aims to support and guide consumers in their choices. In addition, product inspections are carried out in terms of health, environment, and functional efficiency.
Certified products must be made from renewable raw materials or resources obtained using environmentally friendly processes. To ensure that the materials are safe, they undergo rigorous controls and the most stringent tests. Finally, the certification criteria are defined by independent experts from testing institutes and associations, in collaboration with the industry.
Seven categories of paint are subject to the Natureplus label (plant-based and mineral interior and exterior paints, casein-based, glue-based, and clay-based paints). No exterior paint currently carries the Natureplus label. In 7, KEIM was the first paint manufacturer to obtain the Natureplus label for one of its interior paints.
